apparently not, no. i've had spell checkers disabled on all my things for like a decade now and it genuinely never occurred to me. i even could've sworn i'd heard it pronounced "emnity", though i suppose the distinction soundways isn't all that great
and the kicker is, now i know it seems unbelievably obvious. the word is "enemy" so of course the state of being an enemy is going to lead with its n rather than its m. and yet. it genuinely never occurred to me
I wouldn’t be surprised if it really was shifting in that direction, like “ask” and “aks”. It seems to be a little easier to pronounce, and switching two sounds isn’t that common of a sound change, but it happens enough to have a name (metathesis).
