Send “I did a bad thing.” For my character’s reaction to yours coming to them with blood on their hands.

"I did a bad thing…"

The voice drew Mila out of her thoughts and she looked up at the doorway of her tiny room.  Brent stood silhouetted in the doorframe - who else did she know with a mohawk like that? - and she smiled a bit, confused.

"Brent?  I don’t understand.  What do you mean you did a bad thing?"  Setting her composition notebook aside, she got up and walked over to him.  That’s when the smell hit her.  It was faint but definitely the smell of blood.  "Oh god, Brent…  What happened?!"  She knew that the jobs he did weren’t exactly the safest or even the most legal thing out there but this…  what could have happened?

Quickly, she pulled him into the little bathroom next to her room, turning on the sink and shoving his hands under the water.  She had to make sure he wasn’t hurt…  If Brent was hurt, well, what was she going to do?  What was Fetch going to do?

As the bloody water spiraled down the drain, Mila let out a soft sigh of relief to see that his hands were unharmed.  Even if it meant that someone else had gotten hurt, at least everyone in her new, little family was still safe.

"It…  It’ll be okay, Brent…  I’m sure you did what you had to…"  She tried to give him a small, reassuring smile but she felt her lips quivering, so she stopped.  It would be better not to cry in front of Brent.  That would only make him worry about her and he didn’t need to do that right now.

It was raining and Mila silently cursed herself for not bringing an umbrella with her.  She had figured by now she would have… well, she didn’t really know, actually.  It had been a stupid, terrified, spur-of-the-moment decision to leave home and she had only grabbed a few things.  Two sets of extra clothes, toiletries and some food were all she had stuffed in her backpack before writing her goodbye letter to her parents.

Thinking about them made her chest hurt and she tried her hardest not to cry, to force down those feelings because she couldn’t bear to lose control over her emotions again.  Losing control is what put her in this situation to begin with.  The DUP was probably looking for her and if she didn’t find a place to hide soon, she’d end up dead from pneumonia or some other bullshit.

Mila hurried down the sidewalk, pausing under an overhang to get a brief respite from the rain.  Maybe she could sleep here…  The thought made her want to cry again and she sighed, sitting down on the ground and wrapping her arms around herself in an attempt to stay warm.

26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?

Depends on verse and timeline. If all is good in life she’ll just strip down to a pajama shirt and underwear, sweatpants if it’s cold, and it’s time to sprawl out and pass out. If it’s after experiencing some sort of bad trauma, Zoen stops being able to sleep due to bad nightmares and turns to alcohol in order to sleep dreamlessly.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?

Mom: “I’m sorry I’m not who ya wanted me to be. I don’t hate you. I was an ungrateful shit. I love ya Mom.”

Dad: “Don’t you dare take the credit for who I became. You didn’t earn it. I built myself.”

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?

Zoen isn’t terrified of death, but she does fear it and very much wants to live. What she fears more than death though is her death not meaning anything. There are things in her life she wishes didn’t happen, but she regrets none of them.

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?

Restless. Definitely restless. One thing that can really grate on people’s nerves with Zoen is that she gets restless, hates being bored, but at the same time is easily bored. So she does her best to keep herself entertained, but sometimes that involved harassing people.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
