I know it's not your call to define what is/isn't a qpr, but I'd like to ask something!
Would a couple that experiences fluctuating romantic and/or sexual attraction (reciprocated and otherwise) and is sometimes romantic and/or sexual but sometimes not romantic/sexual at all count as a qpr?
I think it would, but seeing qprs constantly being defined as exclusively non-romantic/sexual makes me unsure. So I'd like a second opinion.
(For anyone curious, this dynamic is referencing a couple of ocs. One tends to experience little/no attraction more often while the other generally experiences higher amounts of attraction more often. If that makes any difference. There's a bit more to it but that's the relevant stuff)
Hiya, @bregee13!
I feel like this would be up to the ocs. Are they the kind of people who would feel like their relationship is better described as a romantic/sexual relationship, or better described as a qpr? Or would it fluctuate? Since qprs can be whatever the people in them want them to be, I feel like their relationship could totally be a qpr if they want it to be.
I know the basic definition of a qpr is that it's not romantic, but I also feel like that can be an oversimplification when trying to explain something that is incredibly complicated. Alterous attraction can overlap with romantic attraction, depending on how the people involved experience it, but people with alterous attraction could have a qpr together. (Also, qprs can be sexual, if the people involved want them to be.)
This is just my perspective; other people might have other thoughts. I hope this is helpful!
Oops! Sorry my little gift is hard to use... I'll be sure to take useability into more consideration next time! I just wanted it to be unique and cool! Especially for such a unique and cool Rapo like you. I hope you find a use for it!
Jowee: “I’m not really sure what I’ll do with it, but it’s still pretty cool! Thanks!”
I feel like nobody talks about this, but I love how Opal is open ended and can be interpreted in so many ways. Technically it's never stated that the old guy is Claire's grandpa, and it's never stated that Mirror Man is her dad. So you can go into it and see a completely different family dynamic. For example, in my initial viewing, I thought Mirror Man was more of an older brother kind of character.
OMG this is such a cool point ok?? Like, you’re right, only the mom explicitly says she’s a mom!!
and listen I !! I’m a HUGE fan of weird weird media. like This House Has People In It and junk like that and media like this is very surreal and abstract and vague and what’s so fascinating about it to me is how perception effects the ENTIRE world these kinds of stories depict, because they’re so hazy
they’re like trying to make sense of a dream you had last night
Like, there was the comparison of the family on the billboard from the start to the three in the house, and that could maybe be a more tangible argument for why it’s depicting a mom, dad, and grandpa? Like, maybe that’s the most likely dynamic of the three being depicted? A woman, a man in a business outfit, and a nice old dude, that’s prob a full family right?
But.... for ME..... I felt like I knew mirror man was a dad the SECOND he opened his mouth. Why? Because I recognize from personal experience that that is how a “DAD” talks to you. ( not to get PeRsOnAl lmao... but yeah. )
( like some of it is so viscerally engrained it’s just an experience thing but here’s an easy example have any of you ever had a parent you really don’t want to spend time around and they get upset you don’t say hello to them when you walk by them as a kid? i knowww i’m not the only one who has that experience, it’s like a bad parent meme at this point and that’s the FIRST thing this guy does. )
But that’s my perception!! And it’s a weird perception right? Like, isn’t it WEIRD I feel like I can tell if someone is their parent by a few unrelated words and their tone of voice? Anyone who doesn’t immediately recognize that way of speaking might not at all see a dad !!
These kinds of art pieces deal with really really weird symbols to convey what they want to convey JUST like DHMIS btw!! and say things subconsciously more than it does with words. and that’s neat to me!
SORRY if I’m a huge nerd right now I just !!!! This is my favorite thing ok !!!
