B5 💿 July 19, 2005

This was the first cd I ever bought. For that reason alone, it will always have a special place in my heart.

Summer 2005. Fresh out of 6th grade. B5online.com was a site I went to everyday to look at their photos, that performance where they had on jerseys and popped their butts to Usher's Yeah! and listen to the snippet of Teacher's Pet and So Pretty. I had been counting down the months, weeks, days and hours of this release. So anticipated. My brother and I had a dentist appointment that day in Rodeo, CA. I wore my white and blue Sacramento Kings jersey, red shirt underneath and white based/red and blue lining Sean Carter shoes. I brought my walkman with me as always.

After the appointment, my dad took us to K-Mart so I could buy it. The album booklet photos were gratifying. Of course I read Patrick's thank you's. I listened to a little bit in the car. Just a little sneak preview. I heard the beginning of Let It Be and was a little scared. It was not my taste in music at all.

I gave it a full listen soon as I arrived home. I remember being sad and dissatisfied with the songs on the album. B5 was my favorite artist at the time. I never participated as a fan with any artists the way I did for them. My entire room was covered with their posters, I went to their website, message board, fan sites, voted for U Got Me to be on 106th & Park, searched for interviews etc. daily. My expectations for the album were definitely high but they hadn't disappointed me yet music wise. So Pretty, U Got Me, All I Do, Dance For You, Teacher's Pet and the unreleased songs I definitely enjoyed listening to. The album though...it sounded like Kidz Bop to me. And I was only 11 at the time. It sounded like it was for Kindergartners. I was honestly sad because I wanted to like it.

As time has passed, I began to like it more. Bit by bit. I actually listened to it in full yesterday July 19, 2024 and was jamming. So as of right now, I do like it.
