Sidekick’s breath hitched as they felt the cold metal of the blade against their throat. It bobbed up and down as Sidekick gulped before whispering, “N’h… n-no… I-I’ll come wi-with you…” 

Villain beamed, this turned out much easier than they had expected. They lingered the knife at the others neck for a long moment, soaking in how Sidekick trembled under their knife. They slowly trailed the knife just under Sidekick’s chin, making the other tilt their head up, their tearfilled eyes meeting with Villain’s cold eyes, glinting in amusement.

Footsteps echoed through the air before Hero came into view, “Let them go.” Villain raised an eyebrow, their eyes not leaving Sidekick as they spoke, “Well look who finally showed up. We were just about to leave, how unfortunate!”

“Give.Them.Back,” Hero growled, quickly loading their gun and pointing it up at Villain who only chuckled. They tilted their head, putting the knife back into their pocket, carding their hand through Sidekick’s hair before walking up to Hero. The gun pressed against Villain’s forehead and yet, Villain seemed unbothered. 

“Oh darling, don't make me laugh. We both know you're not going to shoot me. Now why don't you stop embarrassing yourself and drop the gun.”

Hero’s hand shook as rage filled them. Villain wasn’t wrong, they didn't want to shoot them, but they wanted their sidekick back. Hero growled before slamming the gun across Villain’s face. Villain’s head snapped to the side, their hand flying to cover their mouth as they took a step.

“HERO, NO!!!” Sidekick cried out. Hero’s eyes widened, “You're sticking up for them!?!??!” They growled. Villain chuckled, wiping the back of their hand along their mouth, smearing blood from both their lip and nose. They smiled, blood covering their teeth as they laughed, “A good mentor doesn't leave their Sidekick, Hero, especially a hero.” 

Oh, Hero was furious. Their fists shook before they threw the gun onto the ground, “Fine by me. You go off with Villain, Sidekick, and you see how full of shit they are. Never believe what they tell you. They- they lead you in with some fairy tale about how they’ll make you better or- or some bullshit before reality hits and-and…” Hero trailed off, every scar suddenly flooding with a fiery pain as the memories came back to them, they took a deep breath, “Please, Sidekick, I-...I need you to trust me.”

Villain looked back to Sidekick who slowly got to their feet, they sniffled before standing behind Villain who chuckled, “Say goodbye, Hero.”

Hero couldn't even muster up any words. Their heart sank with betrayal. They watched through tears as Villain snaked their arm around Sidekick's shoulder and walked into the shadows. Once Hero was sure that the two were gone, they collapsed to their knees with a sob, hugging themself tightly as they punched the ground over and over again.

Goodbye Sidekick....

The look..of Logan*

Tackling the beast that is Wolverine’s hair and Make-up Design for ‘Logan’ became the almighty task of Make-up Master, Joel Harlow. 

Make-up brushes sharpened and ready to claw..I mean go..Harlow was set the task of breaking down, aging, scarring and distressing Jackman’s skin. Creating layers of beatings, wounds old and new and a simply stunning broken, alcohol ridden skin.  In the story, Logan’s body is rejecting its metal-infused skeleton, and the self-healing power he once possessed that kept him ageless is failing. 

Harlow played up the character’s suffering through physical trauma on the body. This included scarification highlighting gunshot wounds, stabbing, and fight wounds, as well as emphasizing the character’s troubled mental state and alcohol addiction through a weathered, jaundiced appearance.“Our marching order was that everything had to look real,” Harlow says.

To research the makeup designs for Logan and other mutant characters in the film, Harlow turned to his personal library of biology books, and searched the web. He zeroed in on trauma studies to aid in creating the charred, burned skin of Caliban (played by Stephen Merchant), the scaly skin of Parker Lovein’s Lizard Boy, and the seeping sores on Logan’s knuckles where his retractable metal blades continually tear through his skin.“To do this kind of visceral makeup without being respectful of what lies beneath the skin can be hokey,” Harlow explains.To ensure that his team would be able to perform the labor-intensive, realistic makeup effects, he began by breaking down the script, noting where scenes took place in each character’s timeline.He took mug shots and body shots of the actors, and photographed every stage of makeup application. He carefully monitored such details as the look of Logan’s beard.

 While Hugh Jackman’s natural facial hair formed its base, its length and coloring were constantly adjusted. Special bloodshot, yellowed contact lenses were created for Jackman to further enhance the authenticity of his physical decay.
