Archaeologist Ginger! A photo from one of her visits to a field school or public dig day. And owning the hell out of that pit. Two quick things: She's got a trowel in a holster on her side, like a boss. And that odd white line across the background? That's used in making sure the floor of the pit is level and for measuring from a uniform plane in drawing up the soil layers of the pit wall (since, you know, the ground surface wouldn't be level and thus "3 inches from the surface" means nothing). You learned some bonus stuff today!
