Breakbot Makes US Debut With Digital Release
By Your Side has garnered considerable acclaim since its release in Breakbot's native France earlier this Fall (via Because Music/Ed Banger Records). URB declares "Breakbot is paving the way for a new definition of electro-pop, using smooth tunes, retro vocals, catchy beats, and mixing them together to create a truly original sound." Similarly, ELLE France proclaims it "a veritable invitation to happiness for the ears."
It was Breakbot (aka Thibault Berland)'s intention to create an album that rewards you for listening to it as a whole. Berland explains, "I guess you could say my album is more a pop songs album than a Berlin techno record with water drops sounds in it - I wanted to make a pop journey that would have all my influences, without being a reference catalog."
The album features several guest vocalists including Irfane, Ruckazoid, and Bjorn Synnebyfrom Pacific!, but otherwise, multi-instrumentalist Berland plays and records everything on his own. "I do everything myself except the vocals," explains Berland. "Breakbot is a dude in a basement looking for melodies."
