*Harvey Update*
I was really hoping our power would of lasted longer but it went out around 5, not the whole neighborhood just us and two others lmao. So far we've had heavy winds, on and off again heavy showers. Had to park my car in the vacant driveway next door because our street keeps flooding everytime we get a heavy downpour. We've gotten like 19 tornado warnings throughout the day. It's mostly been calm around this area. I'll keep y'all posted.
Hurricane Harvey
My gf and I are living in a city in south east Texas close to where hurricane Harvey hit. We are about 40 minutes south of Houston. Every town around us is flooded and our city is safe as long as the water levels don't rise enough to break the levees. Last night our apartment parking lot flooded for several hours. Friends and family all around us are either flooded in or their homes are filled with water. And Rockport is destroyed and Houston is flooded worse than it ever has been. It's going to take months to get these cities and small towns back on their feet. I might not be a stereotypical southern republican that everyone thinks all Texans are, but god dammit I do love this state and how we treat each other. Everyone who is able to help is either shoveling sand in bags or saving lives. People are reaching out and helping people they've never even met before. It doesn't matter what race, religion, sexual orientation or gender anyone is. PEOPLE are helping PEOPLE. And I hope the media highlights on that. THAT is something everyone needs to see. That there really is good in the world still. And that we are united still while there are dark times happening as well.
Down here in Brazoria, we experienced a terrible flood last year. But it was nothing like this. This hurricane hit south Texas TWICE. This storm has changed so many lives. And it's not over. But we will come out of this. We did it last year and we'll do it again. Keep Houston and the surrounding cities in your thoughts. Thank you.
