Brain: “Hey!”
Me: “NO.”
Brain: “The universe of Aladdin has multiple cultures that vary wildly from our own, and not just because of magic!”
Me: “I know, but I already have so much I’m working on for fun. I don’t need ano-”
Brain: “Would Brawnhilda have Fighting-type Pokémon because she values strength and strength alone? Would Odiferous follow its Germanic theming and incorporate European mythology? Would Genie be a Hoopa or a Jirachi?”
Me: Immediately opens up Pokémon Sword to name a Machamp “Uncouthma.”

Stinker Belle [Production # 23]
“Wow, someone’s really gonna catch us?”
Ah… Jasmine always feels a tad out-of-character here. This seems to be her (and Carpet’s) first trip to Odiferous, but not the others. While wanting to see the world with Aladdin and empathizing with others doesn’t automatically mean she’s comfortable with foreign customs, her responses strike me as odd. The best example I’ve got is this exchange:
Aladdin: Jasmine, I thought you were open-minded.
Jasmine: I am. I’m just not crazy-minded.
Like what? I thought that was Jasmine. Though it is nice to see that she’s not gracious and open-minded all the time. Shows she’s not perfect, I guess.
Regardless, Jasmine’s horror at being thrown through the air and Aladdin’s sincere interest got a chuckle out of me. I admit it.
And I kind of love Brawnhilda more than I thought I would. She’s pretty, as Jasmine says, but she’s tough, too. And she owns the cheese making farm in Odiferous. And I can admire a lady who milks animals to make cheese. (Thanks, Terry Pratchett. And Tiffany Aching.)
I adore the climax, with all the chaos of everyone trying to stop Runta. And kudos to Genie for noticing something was up from the start and finding an actual clever and concise way to let Aladdin and Uncouthma know Runta is trying to kill them.
