It’s a curious sound at first, the soft melodies drifting through the wooden cabin they have as a shelter. One of the only nice things they seemed to have been gifted here, if that was even the right word for such a thing. Soft and light. A sound that he had only heard a few times. The first, on the ARK, when he was a child, before his sister had been born. When he was still young and his mother was still happy. Aurora used to hum a soft melody when Bellamy had gotten sick. She used to hum it when the nightmares would come in the darkness of their flat. A soft sound that he had tucked away in his memory for a later time. A sound he tried to mimic for Octavia but was not nearly as good at it as Aurora had been. Then, he had heard such a sound again, once he had made his way to Earth with the others. It’s melody had been as soft as the one in his memory but it’s tone had been sad. It had been a mourning tune. One that the privileged of the ARK had heard more than those that didn’t have the same customs. The tone had came from Clarke Griffin and it had come at a time of sadness. Of pain. But when Bellamy turns the corner and sees Jake, of all people, singing softly, the tone is nothing like the one Clarke had hummed to Atom when she drove the blade into the flesh of his neck. It’s not like the soft tune his mother used to hum to calm him down. To bring him back to a soft sense of reality. It was different. It had words to match and as he stepped closer, an eyebrow raises a little. “Not to interrupt, but could you sing a little longer?”
