It had happened so quickly. He was almost stunned. Well, maybe he was stunned. Was this what stunned felt like? Like his... mind had stopped. Just for a bit. He hadn’t been able to run, which was his usual plan. But it... he hadn’t been the one being attacked. No, someone near him and he’d reacted. He’d swung at the person. Swung the first thing he’d picked up. A bottle. 

        “I heard some of my recruits had been causing a wee bit of a stir here in the evenin’“ Atreus made no effort to lower his voice as he stepped into the Herald’s Rest. Several curious pairs of eyes suddenly trained upon him. He kept his face forward, cane scraping against the wooden floor as he limped towards Eden.

“First of all I wanted to offer my apologies t’ye Eden.” Atreus continued, stopping a few paces away from the barkeep. “ I thought I’d trained my people better than that. They certainly should nae be conductin’ themselves like a bunch of wild Mabari.”

He paused, shifting his weight uncomfortably as he settled where he was standing. To his left he  saw a few hurried figures making a quick escape, he paid them no mind for now—there was no escaping his ire either way.

He used to dread mornings. Until recently, there was little for Lucan to look forward to. Life in the palace was lonely and not as glorious as people so often made it seem from the outside. Though Lucan suspected that the heavy feeling that he so often carried had much to do with Eden's absence. During that time, it felt as though a piece of him was missing.

So one could say that with Eden's return, some of Lucan's spirit had also come back with him.

A gentle smile makes its way to the prince's face as the other's hand caresses him. Sleepy golden eyes slowly flutter open, taking Eden in. The kindness in his eyes is the same as it was back when they were children. But he's a man now, and age, he thought, has particularly favoured Eden.
