So, this idea refuses to leave my head:
Dennis, Robby and Jack have been a thing for a while now. Tamer Jack and his brats. But of course, Robby and Jack have been married for years and their dynamic is a warm, easy, comfortable thing. While Dennis is the new thing, the passionate thing, the farm boy who comes in and sets everything on fire in the most amazing way.
But, Dennis is a farm boy who grew up in the middle of nowhere. He got turned out at nineteen when his Pop died and there were too many mouths to feed. Turned out, even before he could tell them he was a he. But fuck, at least he was pretty enough to make a couple bucks and get a ride outta dodge. Dennis knows he ain’t anything special. He doesn’t stay the night with Jack and Robby unless he’s physically unable to go home.
Hell, even with Trinity, he barely feels like he belongs.
He sees himself as being a burden, no matter where he is or what he’s doing.
He’s always been one, it’s just taken on different forms. Nobody really loves him, they love what he can provide. In the end, he is only Dennis, no one is going to go out of their way to do shit for him. He’s got to figure it out himself.
So when he can’t afford Plan B, after a broken condom, with dosing that’s accurate for his weight now that he’s eating three square meals a day — well…
He figures the two pinks lines is just something he’ll have to figure out on his own too. Rural medicine always needs doctors and those towns in Bumfuck, Nowhere never ask too many questions.
Maybe he’ll actually feel what it’s like to be loved — even if he had to make it himself.
