haven’t posted a thing in an age and a half—but this sladin (slade/robin) fic @brandyfromthebottle wrote is straight fucking fire. Their synopsis goes:
“Apprentice Arc, but Batman gets involves. --- Bruce has no idea if he's making the right choice. He hasn't felt his head on straight since he saw Robin's familiar face on a villain's body. "Leaving, sir?" Alfred asks, as dry and neutral as ever, but with that particular brand of smug neutrality. Bruce scowls at the grappling hook in his hands and snaps it taunt in a showy test before stowing it with the rest of his gadgets. "Robin's in trouble." "The brute with the Halloween aesthetic?" Alfred asks. Bruce grunts. "Shall I freshen Master Robin's rooms?" "...yes," Bruce says after a long and painful pause. "I'll bring him home."
Like, just, hilarious and also all the good angst, some absolutely unfairly hot slade/robin smut, and then even more good angst, with Bruce being a tired but genuinely trying dad, Alfred and the titans being delightful (in their flawless and made-of-flaws ways, respectively), and Robin (Dick Grayson) and Slade being the fucking cattiest old gay couple and also somehow eighty pounds of trauma in a two pound bag.
