Yeah, I made Maribel my dedicated Monster Class character, but until around Buccanham and the better Lucky Panel, it was difficult going. I was usually at the mercy of which hearts I could find. I did win a Prism Peacock heart which was great because I was so not looking forward to getting the Dingbat reqs.
I made the Hero my dedicated MC character, and after beating the main story, started with everybody else (except Mervyn :p).
You got lucky there. Going through all the monster class paths is really tedious, glad you coculd bypass it haha. Gotta love Prism Peacock’s Hellfire lol

If you weren't sure yet, you have Corydoras aeneus, not C. (formerly Brochis) splendens. The way you can tell is that Corydoras have far fewer rays in their dorsal fins than (previously) Brochis... 7 or so compared to 10-12
