I don’t care what the Founding Fathers would have wanted, I don’t care if Jesus was a hippie or not, I don’t care what Marx prescribed. I can’t take living in a world where we’re all servants of long-dead men. You know what happens if you make a law the Founding Fathers wouldn’t like? Nothing, they’re dead and they’re never coming back. I’m genuinely envious of countries that can just make whatever laws they want without worrying about how 18th century agrarian noblemen would have seen it. Stop arguing that Jesus loved the poor too, what he loved or didn’t love is irrelevant, he doesn’t get a say in any of this. We could have a country that isn’t shackled to these ghosts if we collectively wanted to.

Posting this @brainstatic comment on its own because I keep seeing people sincerely arguing that the Democratic party doesn’t accomplish anything and we can’t afford this kind of ignorance right now.

Lol what do you mean?

So Canada is a giant place, but with a small population (like 30 million vs 300 million), so everything is pretty limited in variety. Practically all the grocery stores are owned by one of two big companies so you can walk into a grocery store anywhere and know what will be there.

And like we have a lot of the things you guys have, just less (especially since you can’t just import American stuff, you have to put french on it). Like our oreos options are regular or double stuffed, but you guys have like mint and birthday cake and cinnamon roll? Or like I didn’t even know there were other flavours of klondike bars?

Also in my province you can’t sell alcohol in the grocery store so that was pretty surreal.
