job work feeling extra impossible this week, but I'm feeling empowered to strategize gently about it
the issue is desensitizing myself to the anxiety causing parts of my job; it is Going to stress me out, but i can teach my body that those stresses are temporary and practice the route back to center.
I need to work on (a) rewarding myself for working (so that I feel motivated) while (b) responding to my own anxiety with grace, patience and curiosity rather than shame or frustration or recursive avoidance and also (c) picking and practicing some specific techniques to calm the fuck down instead of just numbing out until I notice I happen to feel better hours later; meanwhile (d) being diligent and honest and observant with myself re: when I have the bandwidth to sit productively with my discomfort vs. when I'm toast.
(a) a sticker calendar is called for, here. u get a sticker for each day u practiced work related calmdown. but also I gotta say the best thing for me in other areas has simply been: positive immediate self talk! "really good job. nice work. good progress. strong start." it's tiny little crumbs but they add up
(b) and (d) are two beautiful sisters holding hands and smiling. nothing to do but practice the habit. perhaps seek extra opportunities to be mindful or boost mindfulness
(c) let's say five 5-7-8 breaths, a set of single-leg squats on each side to wake up the brain and turn the fast tigers into slow tigers, and 20 minutes of crocheting a blanket in another room.
