over the last few months i have been taking part in a community art project called "standing in this place: speak her name" it explores women who are not often covered in history and celebrates their lives, as well as how indian independence was shaped by the cotton and textiles industry and how women are key to it
i stitched and collaged some hoops, shown here and three hundred hoops were created in all
unfortunately one of the lead artists who planned the project became ill so i became a gallery technician for a couple of days. i helped sew around one hundred and eighty hoops to long ribbons hanging from the ceiling and i loved every minute of it, seeing the art many people had made come together and to curate and order it myself felt so special
i am hoping to become a museum curator and just this has really helped me feel like it is right for me ♡
