I can't believe it took a deeply traumatized and emotionally suppressed, bald, fat, middle-aged bearded man and a deeply insecure yet extroverted middle-aged man with a terrible haircut and 5 o'clock shadow for me to finally understand the appeal of shipping in a completely unironic sense.
I've spent most of my life up til this point being unable to fully comprehend the intense interest of fandoms to ship when they could just be idk... enjoying the characters' relationships as they are in the text more or less (<- ignorant statement). Even ships I did kind of like, I experienced more of an ironic enjoyment as opposed to sincere.
Idk what changed for the appeal to finally click all the way, maybe because the text of LISA is so fucking bleak that any shred of genuine kindness and sweetness between the characters seems exceptional.
It took me 26 years, but I finally got it!
