Schmucky Schumer is wheedling to get anti-American, in the pay of communist China MLB to move the All Stars Game to the sewer of NY, whose election laws re: early and absentee voting are stricter than Georgia’s under the new election law: New York offers 8 days fewer early voting and requires a verified excuse to request an absentee ballot. While democrats howled about Georgia not allowing any campaign handing out food and drink within 150 ft of the polls, in New York, passing out of food and water is prohibited unless the items are under $1 in value. Boycott the MLB all baseball teams and merchandise and all companies supporting their attempt to coerce and blackmail Georgia
#Repost @ourpitstop (@get_repost) ・・・ The outrage about @delta's new discriminatory policy, which bans "pit bull" service dogs, is totally warranted. Excuse me while I drop a bit of animal lawyer knowledge on the subject, and share an important way you can make an impact on the situation. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), persons with disabilities are permitted to rely on a service dog of any breed, regardless of whether or not their municipality has a breed discriminatory law (BSL) on the books. The problem is that airlines are governed by the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA), and there is nothing in this Federal Law about breed discrimination. As a result, air lines like Delta are able to enact these discriminatory, harmful, dangerous policies. The one small piece of good news is that we have an opportunity to shape policy. The US Department of Transportation is currently accepting comments on amending the ACAA regulation on transportation of service animals. So we need to speak up, and speak up NOW, as the comment period closes on July 9th. You can submit your comment via the #linkinbio, which I'll also paste here for the sake of sharing: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2018/05/23/2018-10815/traveling-by-air-with-service-animals According to the version of the #AirCarrierAccessAct I have, it says the carrier CANNOT discriminate by breed, as @Delta did today 01/17/19/ when they required a disabled man disembark because his Service Dog was a Pit Bull. #boycottdelta #FuckDeltaAirlines #fuckdelta (at Atlanta International Airport-Delta Airlines) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsv7e3ZHOyB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1n40b3w96tajq
@ryandaviscomedy ・・・ #adamsaleh got kicked off of a plane for speaking Arabic. #BoycottDelta (part2) (at Atlanta, Georgia)
#BoycottDelta: Airline posts statement on Twitter, white nationalists and Islamist apologists start civil war
Delta Air Lines posted a link to their statement on Twitter:
Delta on Twitter: "Updated statement: Customers removed for disruptive behavior | Delta News Hub: https://t.co/AfM3hjaawz” (http://news.delta.com/updated-statement-customers-removed-disruptive-behavior)
Both white nationalists and Islamist apologists quickly descended on the Tweet to engage in a civil Tweet war. Almost all of the responses are severely lacking in nuance.
It's not that complicated, really. There are several related points here:
1. Yes, conscious (explicit) and unconscious (implicit) bias against Arabic speakers and Arab-appearing people exists. Airline passengers may be viewed with greater suspicion if they are of Arab descent or are speaking Arabic. This is the case even for completely innocent passengers who are not threats to the safety of the aircraft.
2. Unfortunately, this suspicion is justified by the disproportionate number of terrorist acts committed by Muslims. The terrorists are not necessarily Arab-appearing, though they are Muslims.
3. However, the flying public knows fully well that with the security measures taken by airlines and airports, it's very unlikely there is a terrorist on board. Realistically, passengers acting in a disruptive manner are not threats to the safety of the aircraft. They may be at most an annoyance or disruption, as in this case.
4. In this case, it's likely that Adam Saleh and his friend were removed from the aircraft not because of bias against Arab-appearing and/or Arabic-speaking passengers -- which does exist -- but because they were being disruptive and possibly setting up a prank. I say this based on other passengers' accounts and Saleh's history of setting up pranks onboard aircraft.
I believe Saleh and his friend were no threat to the safety of the aircraft, only that they were being disruptive. Saleh and his friend are not terrorists!
5. On Twitter, unfortunately, the Right misses that conscious and unconscious bias against Arabic speakers and Arab-appearing people exists and is a legitimate problem, while the Left misses that some of the conscious bias against Arabic speakers and Arab-appearing people is because of the disproportionate number of terrorist acts committed by Muslims.
Both sides have legitimate points, but it seems in this post-election climate that hardly anyone is moderate enough to recognize that.
