(( You know, I had a lot of different angles to take on this. A lot of ways I wanted to address this. I wanted to do this in character, really, I did.

And the saddest thing is, it boils down to one thing.

☑ What are the biggest differences between you and your muse?

Other than that he’s an eight foot tall, super hunky, lizard-man creature that knows magic and fights with weapons, has no soul, and eats a ridiculous amount of foo-

Wait, scratch that last part. I do that too.

Probably intelligence. Gar-Tei is a hell of a lot more “street-smart” than I’d like to claim I am, but he’s pretty terrible when it comes to academics.

It’s also probably his determination. He has his three goals to accomplish and no matter what he does, those goals are always within sight. I’m human. I make mistakes. Sometimes I lose sight of those goals because I’m distracted or life’s just hard and instead of aiming for the end of the week I just want this bloody hour to end, kind of thing.

☏ What is the most challenging aspect of playing this muse?

Gar is a simple person. He has simple thoughts and wishes and needs and desires. He doesn’t overthink a lot of things.

I on the other hand, do. I’m constantly calculating this and that and if something is okay or if I should or shouldn’t do something. Stepping into Gar’s shoes is basically throwing away a lot of self-questioning and anxiety I’ve had to grow up with over the years. It’s liberating, but difficult.

Another thing is making him believable. While yes, he’s from a fictional video game universe and yes, you can do things like hold sixty sets of armour or eat 1000 sacks of flour within a second to heal yourself, I try not to bring mechanics and numbers so literally in representations.

So he’s super gigantic (read: sliders set all the way to maximum muscle and height and size and booty) but he’s not macro-sized. He eats a lot of food but he’s not a black hole (although I take a lot of liberty with how much he eats. I basically estimate he eats enough for a family of four), and his feats of strength are probably outside of the average spectrum (and maybe even above average human spectrum), but within the bounds of his physical constraints. He might be able to shoulder bash through a door and break it, but that door isn’t flying off and becoming a projectile.

유 Who was your first character?

Oh gosh.

I actually remember him.

His name was Nerbolim Delenthrial (Don’t ask. His first name was supposed to be Milo Brennan backwards but Nannerb was stupid.). He was an elf from the MMO Tibia way back when (is that even still around?). He grew up as the elder brother to his sister Misara, and they both entered the school of magic (I forgot what I called it). He specialized in more arcane, destructive magic and she was a healer; but he befriended a Ranger named Gwidion Galathil and eventually gave up the sorceror life in order switch over to be a Ranger.

Side note: I randomly found this when I looked up my old character’s name. 2006. Wow. I was 16 when I wrote in this thread, and that was about 4 years after I’d started on these forums. I read through some of my old stuff and by god was I ever bad (and overpowered, and controlled other people’s characters a lot), but we all start somewhere!

Also, your eyes do not deceive you. Our threads were hundreds of pages, thousands of posts, and spanned months. They were so involved I often spoke of them at school to my friends.

✌ What is the easiest aspect of playing this muse?

The easiest aspect is probably Gar’s silliness. His carefree, lackadaiscal, “Don’t care had sex” kind of attitude that he has. Because it’s not a question of me ignoring what someone else writes or posts, but I ask one main question.

Does this development affect Gar-Tei personally? Yes? React. No? Don’t care, had sex.

❥ How long have you been RPing this character?

April 6th, 2014 was the first post I made on Tumblr about Gar. So 3 months and 8 days.

♚ Do you and your character get along?

Yes and no. Because we’re so alike I think Gar-Tei knows me inside and out. And considering I’ve imagined him, I know all his workings too. So I know what makes him tick and often put him into situations that make him feel awkward or hurt (Bring on the angst!), but at the same time I indulge him with happiness and what he was made to be, so there’s a balance.
