"Derek if you’re giving Talia another sugar cookie Im going to tell Santa to leave you lumps of coal!" Lydia could hear their daughter giggling in the living room and while they were supposed to be putting the finishing touches on the tree and setting stuff out for Santa and his reindeer but she wouldn’t be surprised if the two had gotten a little distracted in their endeavor. She stepped into the living room with the intent of being the adult which was what usually happened when Derek and Talia were having too much fun but as she watched them over by the tree she couldn’t help but smile.
Seeing Derek with Talia would melt anyone’s heart—even Peter. He was just a completely different man with their daughter, his normal hard exterior and aloof manner just melted away. He was so in love with their daughter and while he had been unsure and worried throughout the whole pregnancy, doubting his ability to raise a child, but clearly all of his doubts were irrelevant. Derek was an amazing father and it was clear to anyone with the way he was with Talia, when the little girl saw her father her whole face would light up. They were inseparable and seeing how happy Talia was as she sat with her father made it impossible for Lydia to even try to tell them no more cookies. “Come on you two, if we don’t go to sleep Santa’s not gonna come which means we made all those yummy cookies for no reason!” She smiled as she walked over to the two, wanting them to get up so she could get them up and they could get Talia to bed.
