A complete tutorial on rebuilding the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store in Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista. The bootrec command is used to rebu
MSConfig - I fucked it up (Part 1)
(Warning: I’m no expert, my solutions might not work for everyone, use at your own risk)
Cause of problem: I was messing around in msconfig, because I was struggling with Windows 10 not booting my system with all my 12GB of RAM. The first problem I made was going from selective startup to normal startup, because I thought: “Hey, why can’t my system boot normally for a change?”. Then I rebooted the system, and it went to an “automatic reparation”-state, which didn’t repair shit.
Trails and failures: ☆ I tried to set back my system to a earlier version, with no luck. ☆ Booting in safemode with no luck (Not trough F8 but the troubleshooting menu thingy u get after the “automatic reparation”-state). ☆ Some other stuff i cant recall at this moment because my second time messing in msc fucked it really up.
And here is how I solved it: Clicked on the choice for opening the cmd and typed in these commands: Bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd Bootrec.exe /fixmbr Bootrec.exe /fixboot
The first one did the job for me, and I got a yes/no/all question, which I answers yes to. The 2 other one didn’t really do anything for my sake, but was suggested to type in at a forum I was reading solutions from (so i’ll leave it here too).
I rebooted and everything worked again! My victory dance was in place and a loud “Woho” was said.

PC KO'D
It had to happened sooner or later but I though it was because of age not from my stupidity. My PC is out of commission all because I wanted to gain back some hard drive memory. Recently I was losing memory pretty fast from 4GB up to 10GB and I had no clue what was eating it all. A couple years back I had the same issue and it ended up being system restore points. This time I checked disk cleanup. But it said there was nothing. So I go inspecting causes on Google. I find out about shadow copies which is another name for the restore points. Cleanup says there are none but I go into command prompt and find there is over 40GB of shadow copies just loafin around. So I go and resize the allowed size for the copies since I can't delete them. I gain a damn good 50GB back. Alright huzzag! But while playing a game my PC freezes. No biggy I'll just restart like I always do. Boom load up to a screen saying winload.exe is missing. I go and get my OS installation disc to repair what I broke. The repair fails. Now I'm in uncharted territory I go look up on my phone what to do. Many saying to command prompt bootrec and to try and rebuild my bcd store from scratch I follow a step by step but it ends up failing. When I do /rebuildbcd it can't find any instances of the installed is on my hard drives. I still know fuck all on what to do as the tut doesn't have a what to do if it fails. I restart thinking perhaps my damn installation disc can just safely reinstall the os while keeping years worth of work on the hdds. NOOOPE! Seems what I did do was remove all means for the install disc to even see my hard drives. I check on the disks via prompt. They're still there memory and all but the OS will not boot. My only option I have right now is clean install. Removing over 8 years of games, pictures, projects, stories, drawings, contingency plans. *sigh* I want to puke this is so distressing to me. Guess the plan is to get a terabyte hard drive. Get all important files onto it. Clean install the drives and then place the files back on. So TL:DR -*screaming into pillow*
