So this is what an epic fail looks like. It might not look like it in this image, but swipe to see where it all went downhill. Firstly, I tore the cover trying to fit an eyelet tool over it. I decided to cover it with a red card stock and include a spine (as it was going to be a Coptic stitch binding). Once attached, the end of the spine still had exposed grey board, so I tried to cover it with orange washi tape. Then I started to cut down my signature (pages) to size and my blade was blunt and subsequently ate the paper. Determined to finish it (and not just lob the whole thing in the bin), I settled on a pamphlet stitch bind and discovered there’s too many pages in my signature and the book won’t actually close. Currently, it’s being held close by a hair tie and is now in a cupboard because I do t have the heart to throw it out. It will serve as a reminder of what NOT to do in book binding… But also as a reminder NOT to give up. I swore at it, was furious at it and wanted to set fire to it. But I persevered.
