Surprise! That's what it felt like the other night coming up on Mama Boo and her boobears. As you all know, we have been assisting a caretaker by trapping and fixing a situation which got itself out of control very quickly. There are many pregnant cats in this situation. Our spay efforts just aren't happening fast enough since our appointments are still a few weeks out. We have been active about trapping any who can be socialized and any needing medical attention, but this leaves many more still able to give birth in the meantime. So we trapped Mama Boo and brought her and her babies inside to safely grow. Now Boo will be kept with her babies until weaned so she can then be fixed and released into her home environment. Fostering feral mama cats is not easy, but definitely far from impossible. We just allow the mama cat to do her thing and raise the babies as we provide a safe environment for her and the kittens. Once she lets us know the kittens are good to eat on their own and no longer need her, we will vet her and bring her back to her caretaker.
