From left to right the ladies are; Vandorendra, Avukavali, and Marilith. Lots of fun to paint these and I got more skin tone practice.

Look out! The McElroy gang have come back from the dead to seek vengeance on the Solomon sisters and family. Reaper Mini's Plastics from the never-ending Bones Kickstarter rewards of a decade ago.
Initially I wasn't going to paint any of the cowboy or Western Heroes minis from the kickstarter and had put them in a bag and set them aside, but my youngest son was getting into Western horror themed ttrpgs so I decided to paint these up. Here's both gangs having a shootout that is way too close;
Western heroes, plastics from the Reaper Bones Kickstarter. I didn't think I was going to paint any of the cowboy minis, but my son had been talking about Western horror games so I dug through the mound of plastic and found this family.
Sometimes the miniatures on my painting table tell me a story and this is theirs; the three ladies are the Solomon sisters. Their father died in a shootout with the McElroy gang who had come to drive him off his land. His eldest son had left years before as he wanted nothing to do with the ranch and became a gambler instead. Two of the sisters remained on the land after their father died, the third became a nun, and occasionally their Uncle Silas, who spends all his time digging for non-existent gold in the mountains, comes by to help out.
But now the McElroy Gang has come back from the dead and is threatening their Land once again and the whole family has banded together to stop them and take vengeance for their fallen father. I should be finishing the McElroy gang today. 🙂
Aren't you a little small for a stone giant? This oversized but small for a giant figure has not come to rescue you, it's from the 2012 Reaper bones Kickstarter and I wanted to play with some variant colors for skin tones.
Modern science is interesting, I quit painting for a while due to all the pains in my neck and shoulders and weakness in my arm and hands. My doctor told me they might need to do spinal surgery, grind off some of the vertebrae, put a new disc pad in, all sounded horrible. Or, he said, we can give you a steroid shot in that area and see if that helps. It has! Which is why I am able to clear my painting area and walk around without being in constant pain all day. Color me impressed.
Filthy peasants. These are the last of the 2012 Reaper Bones Kickstarter peasants. I went for a limited pallet of mostly earthy tones, as vibrantly colored clothing is a mark of higher status, and these folks are just working stiffs.
I can actually see the bottom of the pile of Minis from that 2012 Kickstarter. 😀

Work on the turtle Armada continues, but to free up some bandwidth in my head, and some workspace on my tabletop, I finished this pair of skeletons from the Reaper Bones 2012 kickstarter. I also wanted to try out some of the new speed paints that I had picked up last week to see what they looked like on actual miniatures.
Giant scorpion from Reaper minis, it's almost 1:1 scale though. This is another Reaper Bones plastic that I hadn't planned to paint, but as I was digging through the ever diminishing pile of the 2012 Kickstarter figures I found this one and immediately saw what I need to do to paint it.
Primed white, washed with dark orange all over, washed again with dark orange in the recesses, and then put some dark red bits here and there and some highlighting in a couple of steps from orange to little bits of white. Then threw texture mud on a base with some rocks and sent it scuttling off on its merry poisonous way.
Avukavali, snake demon from Reaper Minis. This is another one from the 2012 bones Kickstarter. I wanted to experiment more with red skin to give it better tone and depth, I think this has worked much better than my previous attempts. The tail started out red and then had a dark bronze dry brushed over it and then a combination of gold/bronze, and then a little bit of gold just on the top parts of the tail scales. I'm pretty happy with it.
