Btw in addition to the two martial arts that I do, I recently started foam weapon (boffer) fighting. It's not exactly a martial art, although it does involve smacking other people with various foam weapons (at our practice I've seen swords, spears, javelins, and bows&arrows, and I know boffer axes at least exist too), but I'm fantasy and medieval period trash so it's a great hobby for me. It's seriously so much fun, like seriously if you have the chance, try it!
It sounds like good stress relief!

Picture of me this past weekend at Winter War 2017.
Inspired by the Nordic Battle Gaming scene in Finland (Sotahuuto), the HVN decided to use home-made boffers for the Melee Games at this years HEFFAC event. It was fantastic fun, and I hope we keep these sorts of padded weapon simulators for minimal-gear group games from now on.

Warning: Boffer fighting can be habit forming and is not, strictly speaking, historical sword-fighting. If you practice fencing with boffers for extended periods of time you may experience detrimental symptoms such as decreased interest in edge alignment and loss of adequate body structure. If these symptoms persist please switch to an appropriate historical fencing training weapon and consult your nearest HEMA instructor.
Last Wednesday we were lucky to have a professional photog stop by and take some (250+) amazing photos and I am still not over how much I ADORE these shots!
Many thanks to Jesse Frome for shooting and sharing with us!
(If you're in Seattle and wanna give this try we have practice every Wednesday at Cal Anderson Park from 6:30pm-10pm)

Made a Red Longsword for Belegarth using modern craft tech and I'm in love with her so much. 54.75 inches, 24.7 oz, balances a hands breadth above the hilt, she's absolutely perfect for me.
Everyone say hi to Slashley!

Footage from my latest practice, trying to get some Sword and Board work in. Not quite satisfied, but still a very good exchange. Always a joy fighting @hashtag-bees 😁
Listening to the Hades OST while swordfighting is certainly a choice. I would like to apologize for the person that I become when Rage of the Myrmidons comes on
