✨️The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe (Georgian: ბოდბის მონასტერი). Founded in the 9th century, it is the resting place of Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia.
The photographs show the modern church (2019), as the original building did not survive to the present day. The decorative elements were what interested me most — they feel almost like a study of stone carving and ecclesiastical architecture. Tuff is a wonderfully tactile stone; it makes you want to reach out and touch it. I would also especially note the red element in the design: rather unusual for local churches, yet it looks festive and harmonious.
It was unexpectedly interesting to come across a bell tower in this kind of almost Gothic style (last photo). Built in the second half of the 19th century🕯
✨️Женский монастырь Бодбе (груз. ბოდბის მონასტერი). Основан в IX веке и является местом упокоения крестительницы Грузии — святой Нино. На фотографиях современный храм (2019 г.) так как до наших дней строение не сохранилось. Наибольший интерес вызывают декоративные элементы — по ним можно изучать камнерезное зодчество. Туф — приятный на ощупь камень, к нему хочется прикасаться. Отдельно отметила бы красный элемент в оформлении: это довольно необычно для местных храмов, но выглядит празднично и гармонично. Неожиданно встретить колокольню в таком около готическом стиле (последняя фотография). Построенная во второй половине XIX века🕯
