If you’ve been following us for a couple of years now, you might recall we already shared this fine lo-fi charmer with much zeal. Oakland artist Bobey just dropped his new digital EP Siblings on Golden Brown alongside a limited edition 7″ vinyl, affording us the perfect timing to reshare Bang Chasing, in case you missed it the first time around. Bang Chasing, which was originally off of Golden Brown’s debut compilation Perfectly Toasted Vol. 1 from two summers ago, is an eccentric bedroom guitar pop song with a lilting off kilter melody and much dreamy, wispy vocals. Oakland, CA -- I had stumbled upon the chance to see Bobey live a few years ago in San Francisco and I left the concert, intrigued to say the least, with the bands that I saw. I remember watching Bobey performing by himself, with his guitar and some pedals. His music is warm, bare, and fluid in many ways. Bobey returns with his upcoming record Siblings, out August 24 via Golden Brown Music. Take a listen to his new single “Foothills (feat. Emily Ritz),” and you’ll understand the power of his music. There are folky singer-songwriter elements on this song and the lo-fi recording gives the song a light, effervescent texture that makes you feel like you’re floating.Â
