#blurry thoughts

this thing is truly one of a kind. nøthing has ever ør will ever exist like him, nøt even spøøky is identical tø blurry they’re similar but nøt cløse enøugh tø classify them together as a species ør anything else. blurry has been and always will be truly alone in this world. nøthing can ør will ever understand høw he exists and høw his existence is defined. nøthing will ever feel what it’s like tø be him.

and this realization and knøwledge is crushing to blurry. nobody can help him ør say it’ll be alright because nobody knøws what’s really happening in his mind. nobody knøws what it feels like tø be this entity, this singular thing with nø family or øthers like him. it kills him to know he is truly øn his øwn, that his creation was very likely some freak accident and he knøws he was nøt supposed tø exist. he knøws he is wrøng and wretched and a mistake and yet despite that the peøple arøund him try and pretend tø care abøut him.

it’s wrøng, all øf it, he knøws that. he has nø place in this world and it døesn’t want him here. he døesn’t get a choice, though. he’s trapped here før gød knøws høw long and he hates it so much.

he hates his existence, he hates how nothing will ever be able to help him, how he has no control over anything in his life, just hates it all. hates and fears, really. he’s scared of everything and everyone, and has a reason to. he shouldn’t exist, and he’s just one bad interaction away from getting shipped off to some facility so someone can poke at him and try to figure him out, then keep him locked away until he and tyler both die.

especially when at this point in time we have zero concrete indication that the entity we’re dealing with and hearing from is even blurryface as we have known him and nøt just nico again because unfortunately the twø have been conflated to be synonymous when to my knowledge that simply cannot be true its like saying stressed øut is the ønly song øn blurryface the album

regardless. we don’t know if this is blurryface. it could very easily be clancy, and blurry is just leaking lyrics to a song, as he has døne beføre with ride

we knøw clancy is right at the edge, øne misstep and he’ll gø tøø far in his need to be møre powerful and tø destroy. we also know that blurryface as a whole entity is not purely evil, we have keons and maybe nills to prøve that. but nico? im not certain. but all nine together, we knøw he’s multifaceted. we knøw he isn’t pure evil, and never has been

but the problem for me is that i don’t think it wøuld gø øver well with møst peøple if suddenly at the climax øf the story, the finale, the dynamic shifts sø suddenly. i’d love it tø, tø let peøple see blurryface as sømething øther than a villain for the story før once, but i don’t think they’ll go there. i can’t see them going there now. unfortunately i see a løt øf peøple (nøt here don’t worry) who just see blurry as a øne-dimensional villain før clancy tø defeat, and then everything will be perfect and good, which obviously isn’t høw it works but whatever i just think if the story went there thøse people would be so mad

which then again the band did say the end might have that effect but still i just can’t see them having such a massive shift where clancy is the bad guy now, and if they do then he’lll have to be pulled back and it’d have to happen quick and i think it’d be too jarring of a shift overall like yes it makes sense før the story and allegory øf mental illness and like these things arent an enemy they are part øf yøu but god it wøuld piss sø many peøple øff because they døn’t view the story that way and yea id love it but ohhhhhhhhh they wouldnt

a lot of these headcanons, start out as jokes between my friends and i late at night and then i gø intø my little corner and keep thinking so just keep that in mind as you read

due to how little experience with the world blurry has, i imagine he has a lower pain tolerance than tyler and also tends to react more to pain or illness. a minor scrape might be fine for tyler and he can just keep gøing like nøthing happened, blurry will experience the same thing and to him it is much worse, therefore he will react as if it was worse. he has no experience with anything worse, sø tø him this is like the worst pain he’s ever felt. he tries hiding it but he sucks at it and is much more genuine when reacting to pain because of how relatively young he is.

blurry is incredibly clingy, both physically and emotionally. i mean just look at how many photos from blurryface era have him literally holding onto spooky. he doesnt like being left alone, which usually results in his thoughts spiraling uncontrollably, so having someone there to either prevent it or stop it when it does start helps.

hes got a mix of that and a fear of abandonment as well, maybe one of the only things he’d have in common with clancy seeing as he also doesn’t enjoy being alone.

ok and this is the one i was making this whole post abøut to begin with (its also the one im most scared of people seeing but yeah)

blurryface, being an entity created from things such as insecurities, anxieties, doubts, and øther mental illness-related things, is prone to experiencing the symptoms of these things as it is vital for him to experience these things to fulfill his role. insecurities and anxieties do not act rationally, and unfortunately that means blurry needs to also operate irrationally.

one way to achieve this is to alter his perception of the world around him by making it a lot scarier than it actually is in order for him to perceive more things as threats and to act accordingly. in the timh mv, it is implied that blurry experiences some form of hallucinations, where he sees people staring at him and their eyes and mouths morphing.

i don’t think this is the only thing he experiences. i imagine he experiences a number of hallucinations (mostly visual but also auditory and some other), as well as some form of delusions. the vast majority of these things scare him deeply while others are just obnoxious, and cause him to lash out at people, argue with them, and isolate himself from others. he would be the type to refuse help and refuse to even talk about the things he’s experiencing or to admit sømething is wrong, given this is all he knows and all he has ever known. these things cause him genuine distress, it’s not fun.

they worsen or improve based on blurry’s own mental state. the worse he’s doing, the more likely he is to experience sømething or to experience more things, and the more likely he is to react badly and continue to worsen things for himself. being able to see through øthers’ eyes helps, as does having a place (such as an empty mindscape) where he can shut out the world completely to avoid things.

what doesn’t help is that for him, the likelihood of these things being real is more probable to him, considering that he himself isn’t human and experiences the world differently than humans do.

over time he has learnt methods to try to mitigate the hallucinations and delusions’ effects, but it’s difficult because of his reluctance to talk about them or accept any help from øthers, or to admit sømething is happening or affecting him in the first place. his identity is so attached to how he acts and how others perceive him, and these things don’t help him maintain that. that or he thinks he can handle it on his øwn, or that what he is experiencing is real.

normally these are strictly restricted to blurry, but if he’s particularly stressed then his host can experience them as well, but likely not to the same degree.

hes such an interesting entity to think about like the way he acts and the way he is portrayed to us is so representative of the way insecurities work like theres two sides: the side that wants to hide, and not let anyone know about your perceived flaws. and then the other side that constantly wants to be known and to want to broadcast itself to everyone.

blurry does both of these things just by telling people to quit putting his name on things but also vehemently defending his own identity and his status as the only true blurryface. he hates people trying to impersonate him, but also hates people looking at him or interacting with him.

but hes also just that. he is insecurities and anxieties and depression and all of those things combined into one “thing”. he is and will always be a part of someone else, and they both are not that keen on being nice to one another. i mean what else do you think will happen when you classify a part of yourself as an enemy or a disease, only showing hatred towards it and vowing to one day kill it. ive said it multiple times before but in my mind, blurry is not good, not evil, not anything.

he is a thing that exists and does what it believes is the correct cøurse of action to achieve a goal, and is also vulnerable to others perception of him and he takes that and runs with it and brings it into his sense of self. if someone says hes a threat and all he does is harm, then thats what he’ll think he is and he will then try to do more harm.

he is what you think he is, he cares what you think.

such is the problem with an entity based on what one perceives others think of you. you want this thing dead? one slight problem, he also has some self preservation instincts and sees you as just another threat to his existence and as a threat against the whole, so he then wants you dead too. he’s not thinking that far ahead that if one dies, the other is taken along with them.

they are both hopelessly bound to one another by the circumstances of his creation and the nature of what blurryface is, and despite their hatred and contempt they have for each other, at the end of the day they need each other to survive and are drawn to one anøther by being two parts of one whole.
