Thank you for your kind message. I’m really glad you’re enjoying our podcast.

I’ve heard the phrase “bright young things” to describe young people in the UK during this era, but I’m not super familiar with them as a group. After a quick look at the people Wikipedia considers the prominent members I think it would take just as long to tell you which ones weren’t queer as which ones were, so it’s definitely a promising mine for queer content. There’s also some crossover between the bright young things and the Bloomsbury group, which was a very queer social circle, and something we’ve already talked a bit about on our podcast. (Have a listen to our episodes on John Meynard Keynes and Henrietta Bingham if you haven’t already.)

I’m doing research right now on the blues singer Gladys Bentley, and the rise of queer culture between the wars in the USA - it’s interesting to see the parallels between the two countries, and how arts, culture and a certain level of queer acceptance all thrived between the wars, and then how that changed with WWII and the Great Depression.

I will put the bright young things on our suggestions list as a good starting point for future episodes. Thank you and have a lovely day,

Bat: If you could transform into any kind of animal, what animal would you be?

Either a dog or a wolf. A bear would be cool too, since they hibernate.

There are so many beautiful places i want to see like Rome or Athens, Paris, Prague, Amsterdam was beautiful too, also America, Brazil, Caribbean, it’s just too difficult to choose and to be hones I would probably end up somewhere in the UK.
