ⒷⓄⓄⓀ ⓇⒺⓋⒾⒺⓌ The Blue Umbrella Author: Ruskin Bond Genre: Short Fiction My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ruskin Bond is my all time favourite author. Although this is a children's book, I found absolute joy in reading it. A young girl from the hills of northern India finds herself in possession of a blue umbrella, which is the most beautiful thing in the entire village. Soon, many people starts getting jealous of that umbrella and the story unfolds from there. A lot of human behaviour is clearly depicted in this small book. Also, how the children's thought process is absolutely pure and differ from that of adults - can be seen from this story. This is precisely why I love Ruskin Bond's writing. He can teach you a lot of things without preaching at all. Grabbed my trusty old jean jacket today to go for a hike - Reached into the front pocket & this is what I found ..... I’ve counted 12 times that I’ve seen him in concert starting in 1978. First time was the “Time Out” bar on N. Walnut/Bloomington, IN. ( now the SwitchYard Brewery) - I was a freshmen in college & 18 years old - I went with a camp friend & got in with a fake ID I borrowed from a friend I didn’t look anything like. All the in between concerts were everywhere & anywhere - Illinois, KY, Tennessee & Indiana. The 12th & last time was this last NYE at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN with my best camp friends in the whole world & people I dearly love.
