Bluetooth Low Energy – A New Revolution in Connectivity
What is Bluetooth Low Energy?
Bluetooth Low Energy is pretty much the same as what was written in the comment. It is built on the basis of the standard Bluetooth protocol, but it is a new Bluetooth protocol that uses a very small amount of electrical energy. In fact, that’s enough for a device to work for a year using just one tiny button cell.
How Long Have You Been Around?
First manufactured in April 2009, this chip was released, but the concept has existed for several years and has been called something else. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) first came up with the concept of Wibree. It was later renamed ULP (Ultra Low Power) Bluetooth technology and got its current name in 2009.
How is it Used?
Bluetooth Low Energy is the next evolution of Bluetooth and is designed to extremely efficiently transfer data between two devices using minimal electrical energy. How this works is best illustrated with an example.
Imagine wearing a sports watch that constantly monitors your heart rate and blood pressure while training. If no action is taken, the sports watch can transfer this data to the phone using Bluetooth Low Energy, and the phone can send this data directly to the website over the Internet, so it can be analyzed later. Your coach can investigate it in real time.
This is just one example and of course there are many other potential applications. I’ll explain it a bit more later in this article and more in a future article.
Evolution or Revolution-which one?
So far, we have referred to this new technology as revolutionary and evolutionary. This is not an error or attempt to confuse our readers. In fact, technology is both. It is evolutionary in that it is based on existing Bluetooth technology and extends the design experience already gained, and it is innovative in that the new Bluetooth low energy protocol was designed from scratch. Bottom up. It’s also the innovation that Bluetooth can achieve in terms of new applications and devices.
How Much Does it Cost?
Developing this new technology over the past few years has not been cheap. Indeed, a huge amount of design work has been done between the initial concept and the first silicon chip, and as a result the manufacturer plans to recoup this cost from the sale of the device.
On the other hand, one of the advantages of Bluetooth Low Energy is that it is very cheap. In devices such as mobile phones, Bluetooth low energy is used in conjunction with conventional Bluetooth (dual mode devices). In fact they will only use one chip and the cost will not be more than that of conventional Bluetooth. Naturally, in a device using only Bluetooth Low Energy, the net cost of the chip is incurred, but this is very low.
What New Devices are Using Bluetooth Low Energy?
We have already provided one example of how data collected from sports watches is transmitted directly to the Internet via mobile phones. Bluetooth low energy can be used in smart sneakers, sensors on bikes, canoes, and even many other sports applications such as bats, rackets or golf clubs. No matter what sport you participate in, Bluetooth Low Energy allows you to monitor your performance in real time and transmit it directly over the Internet.
Other devices related to the stomach are in the medical field. For example, a person with diabetes can use a Bluetooth low energy device to continuously monitor their blood sugar levels, and the data can be sent directly to the person’s doctor or doctor. Heart data can be monitored for abnormalities. You can remotely monitor the health of the elderly.
Of course there are many other applications that do not include health and fitness. For example, it is used for remote control, home appliances and entertainment systems. What is certain is that hundreds or thousands of new applications will emerge over the next few years.
How Do I Change My Life?
The low-cost, low-energy connectivity provided by Bluetooth Low Energy is bound to change lives. With traditional Bluetooth, personal area networks (PANs) are limited to a handful of devices such as cell phones, laptops and computers, MP3 players, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth headphones, GPS, and cars. With Bluetooth Low Energy, PAN is greatly expanded to include wearables, accessories, home white goods, lights and curtains, sensors and intruder alarms, remote controls for all entertainment systems, and all the other features we mentioned. The possibilities are huge and limited only by your imagination.
What is the Timeline?
As I said earlier, the first chips were made by a semiconductor company and are being evaluated by gadget manufacturers. This walkthrough will take months to complete, and there may be some additional design iterations before everything is done, but it won’t be long before the first Bluetooth low energy devices and phones get to market. Sooner or later, all new smartphones will incorporate dual mode Bluetooth Low Energy. Industry analysts predict that by 2014, consumption of Bluetooth chipsets incorporating Bluetooth Low Energy will reach 2 billion per year.
Last Word
Bluetooth Low Energy is on its way and will be a life-changing technology that can dramatically improve the level of connectivity achievable between next-generation devices, existing Bluetooth devices, and the Internet. Future articles will take a closer look at related technologies, new applications and upcoming competitive solutions.
Headsets – Free Yourself
The phone, a major breakthrough invention in communication, has become an inevitable part of every home. This has always come with the struggle to hang on or revolve around the handset to stay connected to the world. Headsets aren’t used a lot for people who don’t use the phone a lot. However, for those who need to stick to their phones, such as service agents and salespeople, in order not to miss an important call, the headset is a great relief. Since the inception of the call center, telephone handsets are looking for a larger market. Due to the manual operation to activate the headset, the phone was answered previously by activating the hook switch. This procedure is still used in various offices.
But now technology is advancing, and one-touch operation is taking over, where calls are activated and terminated at the push of a button. Some large enterprise phone manufacturers have integrated headset jacks built into their phones so that you can use a cord to connect the headset directly to the phone. But for those who aren’t obsessed with a desk and like mobility, a wireless headset is a better option. It also reduces clutter in the wires on the table.
Wireless headsets are slowly catching up in the business world. Current models have remote answering and call ending functions, which is more convenient for users. This is done by an integrated answer button that helps to activate the phone hook switch remotely.
But for cell phones, there are more comfortable Bluetooth headsets that reduce active noise and make conversations very clear. It also helps you listen to your favorite music without disturbing unwanted noise. This is very useful for businesspeople who cannot afford any kind of disturbance during a conversation.
The digital signal processing mechanism integrated into these devices detects the ambient sound and automatically adjusts the volume level. Wireless and Bluetooth headsets stay connected even when driving a car or bike. For headsets from major manufacturers, log in to our website. Now you can compare prices of different brands online to save time and energy.
If you are looking to buy the best wireless ever, then it’s wise you choose its best type and the best brand. Here are the 5 factors that help Bluetooth Wireless Headsets Make Your Life so Convenient & stress-free.
