So, I was thinking about making a fanfic related to Luigi´s thoughts during Luigi´s mansion 3 and some stuff post game, and I came with the idea that unlike the first game, were we can see Mario is fully conscious inside the portrait, I could play with the fact that in this one, they are basically unaware of whatever is going around them, which would mean like an eternal pause with no fear, no sleep, no think, no nothing.
That train of thought led me to think in all the rescues, and I remembered that the little blue Toad had the elevator button. And I was like âWaaait a minute⌠how the hell did he get that?â
So I rewatched the scene, and what I found, let me thinkingâŚ
According to Hellen Gravely, âWe´ve prepared rooms for you Toads as well!â Rooms, in plural, on the other side of the hallway.
So, putting all the info together, we know that Peach was the last one to be trapped in the portrait, Mario was probably the first, since he was (according to them) the biggest treat. BUT, it could also had been the Toads.
Blue Toad, when rescued, he was looking at the portrait, probably the very thing he last saw before being trapped, he was just TERRIFIED, literally shaking in fear, something VERY bad happened to him, he was shock and running for his life, in fact, he was so hysterical he probably made it to the elevator and reached for the only button that he could reach with his short height.
But he had it in his hand, so⌠I am thinking he was taken from the elevator, probably by other ghosts and he held tight to the only thing he could⌠the elevator button, so tight that he actually ripped it off, and then, he was trapped while clutching it in his hand.
Imagine this poor little thing running away while being chased by ghosts, with probably the portraits of his Toad friends floating in front of his eyes, he was so amazingly scared that he did not run to Mario, or to protect the Princess, not even to Luigi. He ran to the elevator to scape!!
Maybe and I am overthinking things, but I guess this line of thought makes sense. Maybe I am wrong, but definitely, all the lore behind this game is quite awesome once you think about it.
 What do you guys think??
