Das is ok for a starter paperclay I guess. You can either shave the clumps off or sand it veeery gently. I stopped using Das because it can get really fragile and come apart in flake. Now I'm more of a aepoxy person than paperclay
Yeah, I thought about using epoxy but my last attempt with that was about half this size and really heavy. Plus I have a lot of Das laying around and not much epoxy haha. I figured paperclay will be quite fragile, and of course not strong enough to stand up to stringing on Onedat’s existing jointed tail mechanism. This is kind of a rough first draft to see what works I guess. Could always look into figuring out how to cast a single tail piece in resin maybe. $$$$ :( Or just go buy a shitload of epoxy and not bother looking into resin!

The secret is in letting it dry so its easier to manipulate and adding on top! You can do ittttttt
Tyty! I’m using Das air dry clay. I’m not entirely sure how to go about getting it completely smooth and free of lumps. Add bits of clay into indents and sand down lumps? It’s gonna take forever to dry in this freezing cold house :D
