A unicorn that carries a lantern; a lantern pony! She's a rather reserved pony that spends a majority of her time by herself.  Chamber Wisp is a decendant of lantern ponies that worked for the imperial knights in the arctic north of equestria where the weather has a will of its own. Lantern ponies lead the way for many explorers in the early years of Equestria and were vital in the rise of villages and kingdoms in the dangerous northern arctic. The lanterns are relics themselves and, when combined with magic, would ward off the darkness in the north, similar to the magic of the Crystal Heart within the Crystal Empire. Since the end of King Sombra's reign and the return of the crystal empire, lantern ponies and the civilizations in the north, though to a degree still quite secluded, have been able to live life a bit more easily. Over the years the need for lantern ponies dwindled. With a large portion of the arctic north already explored, lantern ponies stay close to home... Many still retain their jobs as beacons for northern villages, or as accompaniments to those traveling from village to village. Chamber Wisp still carries her parent's lantern and spends time on her own exploring the dark ruins, historic and abandoned lands left forgotten from Sombra's reign. Writing down her exploits, she hopes to one day uncover the shrouded history behind the arctic north, but she might be closer to darker secret than she thinks...

The environment that she comes from is a town in Northern Arctic Equestria that lies beyond the Crystal Empire. It was once a rather large town of cobblestone and brick, with many alleys, walkways, and plaza's; indeed one can find themselves lost at times if not accustomed to the lay of the land. Its size denotes the towns empirical history, but after the battle with King Sombra during his initial rise to power, much of the land was left in ruin and continues to be lost to the frozen north, unprotected by crystal light that wards the darkness away. Efforts to reclaim the land lasted for a time but many areas of the kingdom were deemed too dangerous or irreparable. Since Sombra's fall and the Return of the Crystal Empire, the ponies of the land have been able to build more of the town, and though not as grand as it once was, it is still large enough for ponies to live relatively comfortably.
