Worldbuilding - Blue Copper
Sorry for spamming about my world, but I couldn’t resist! I just love talking about it.
So, in The Library, there’s a material called blue copper. It’s magically enhanced copper, each piece infused with a human soul. As you can imagine, it’s incredibly rare. But, it’s incredibly strong and amazing for channeling magic. It’s also slightly blue, which gives it some nice aesthetics.
The making of blue copper requires ritual magic, which I have yet to talk about on here. Put simply, you take someone’s soul and stick it in a sword (or whatever). You should probably shape the copper into whatever shape you want it to be first, as it’s extremely hard to shape afterwards.
A bit of data on it that probably won’t mean anything to any of you but I feel like sharing anyway: its density is 1.1 g/cm3, its melting point is about 6,000 K, its Mohs hardness is 12, and its tensile strength is about 2 TPa. Nobody knows its boiling point, as you would need the center of a star to get it hot enough. As it is, the surface of the sun still couldn’t melt it.
With a density a little greater than that of water and a tensile strength thirty times that of carbon nanotubes, it’s easily the strongest substance in the universe. Its specific strength is 1.7 million kYuri, 40,000 times that of carbon nanotubes. However, it still falls far, far short of @whollyart ‘s Garraioa, which has a specific strength of more than 90 trillion kYuri.
As you can see, it’s a little bit overpowered. It can hold an edge a single atom wide and survive the most brutal of conditions, short of chucking it into a supernova. But, to be fair, it does have an entire human soul contained in its metal. Which is pretty hard to get, especially considering you can’t force someone’s soul out of them. They have to give it up themselves.
