Hanzo and Jesse are off the rotation indefinitely. Lena gives Hanzo a phone number for a woman in London and tells him that she helped her and leaves it at that. After a few days of indecision, he calls, and then he and Jesse are looking at apartment listings.Â
They spend months in London.
Hanzo gets a dog. She’s huge and has to be brushed daily and walked constantly. She’s dumb as bricks but has the patience of a saint. Jesse has to chase her down for some article of clothing every other morning.Â
Hanzo never expected to be watching the man he loves chase a dog with a mouthful of socks around a couch, swearing in every language he knows, but here he is. He laughs at them until he’s crying. He tries to remind Jesse that there’s no way he wants those socks back, but he can’t get it out.Â
In that moment, the warehouse feels far away.Â
There are lots of moments like that now.
They leave London when a standing phone call with Hanzo’s doctor feels like enough.Â
There’s a ranch in New Mexico, practically abandoned. They buy it, go there. Friends and family come through often, even when Jesse sets them on fixing fences and patching drywall and laying floor. It’s a simple kind of existence, but there’s something to ending your day with your surroundings a little better than they were.
The dog adores the space.
There are good days and bad days, but they’re all different and all precious. They still keep their particular skills sharp and they stay wary, because all of that has become a fundamental part of their natures, but they find themselves content in this existence.Â

*clears throat* Just wanted to let everybody know that Naga!Hanzo is an absolutely perfect thing and I’d like to thank @bluandorange for their wonderful stuff that got this idea stuck in my head in the first place.
@bluandorange !! I’m sure he would try, but the space he was being kept in did not really support any real exercise. Pacing back and forth is one option, he did it enough back in his cell under the castle. Jesse sees the behavior and knows Kiri needs space, and fresh air. With much coercion, and maybe even a little guilt tripping, Jesse convinces Winston to let him take Kiri down to the ocean, down below the cliffs of the Gibraltar base. With armed supervision from Ana and Pharah, at least the first few times. For the first time in what seems like ages, Hanzo is able to stretch his legs and run. The sand is soft between his clawed toes, and the water and the sea air is cold but it makes him feel alive again.
