“Is this some sort of joke?” Ellie had just got the note passed onto her by a courier and she was furious that it hadn’t got to her sooner. “Excuse me... I need to... just... sorry... did you bring your car here?” 

Wesley had worked long over his shift, but with the weather so bad outside, it made sense for him to stay here and help. “I’m fine. Just taking five minutes,” he said, trying to hide a yawn. “I’ll be right with you,” he added, offering a smile as he leaned against the wall.

“My head is a mess. I feel like I’m spinning I don’t know what to do. I feel so torn... and so confused. And it won’t stop. This feeling won’t stop.”

“I got... this really weird email.” Abbie mumbled, leaning forward to look at her laptop screen. “It was about my blog...it was from the company... the admin-something.”

“Wait. Patience. Pause. The perfect red lip needs attention,” he girl said, lips pouted as she painted them. “There,” she smirked, winding the silver tube back down.

“I always thought summer in this town was beautiful. Flowers have bloomed, the animals come out... business is booming.” Millie flicked her blonde locks over her shoulder, sipping her bottle of water. “Don’t you agree? It’s almost like the calm before the storm. 

It had been a long time since Cailan had stepped foot on the mortal earth. He felt a mix of emotions. Nerves, anticipation and a longing for the place he had been forced to leave in his younger years. He had his mission and he knew what he had to do, though despite his age, he felt unsure. A little out of place, struggling to fit in. Things had certainly changed, even with his briefing. “I believe myself to be lost. I am looking for someone,” he spoke elegantly and calm to the stranger. “I was told he spent a lot of time here.”

The vampire smiled slightly, watching a mother and her child engaged in conversation. It was sweet, natural and she laughed at the ramblings of the small human. She craved it. Something she had never had. Something she never could have... but for 900 years she had allowed herself to dream. She heard a voice behind her and turned. “Oh... hello?” She didn’t realised someone had been watching her also.
