Real things my parents say:
Parents - “You need to clean your room more. No one’s going to love you if you can’t keep you’re room clean. How do you expect to live on your own if you can’t handle that kind of responsibility? You’re an adult now, you need to get your life together.”
Me - ‘So you pulled me away from cleaning my room to tell me to clean my room?’ *Goes back to my dwelling cube and loving boyfriend of almost two years*
Me - *Realizing I’m a hoarder and need to change my ways. Starts putting everything in boxes to be reorganized.*
Parents - “Are you leaving us? You can’t be moving out! You didn’t even tell us anything about you moving out! You don’t respect us at all do you?”
Me - “I’m just moving my things out so I can get to the other side of my room and be able to put things away in a more organized fashion.”
Parents - “Okay, but, when are you moving out?”
Parents - “What are you doing?”
Parents - “You’re always cleaning your room lately. You need to take on real responsibility or no one will love you. Do our laundry.”
