Favorite Gansey Quote
Adam was struck, as he occasionally was, by Gansey’s agelessness: an old man in a young body, or a young man in an old man’s life.

I find this description of Gansey very apt. He’s young, but he takes on responsibilities and positions of people twice his age. For example, he often tries to take on a parental role with the rest of the boys, especially Ronan. However, this is one of the things that annoys Adam since parent-child relationships are inherently unequal and he doesn’t need someone his age trying to control him.
Also, I believe this quote is one of the first times Gansey is described this way, but it comes up again and again throughout the first two books. Gansey is very much an old soul in a young body and his agelessness fits in well with the timelessness of Cabeswater.

Most Romantic Scene
"I wish you could be kissed, Jane," he said. "Because I would beg just one off you. Under all this." He flailed an arm toward the stars. "And then we’d never say anything about it again."

This is just part of that scene, but yes, I found the almost-kissing quite romantic. The setting is also really romantic. At night, on a hillside with the stars above them and the lights of Henrietta below them. It would be a very picturesque date if they were actually dating and Blue hadn’t just broken up with one of Gansey’s BFFs and she wasn’t cursed to kill her true love with a kiss. Details are so pesky.
Honestly, I would have chosen a Pynch scene if I could because OTP and all. But, most of Ronan and Adam’s scenes together are fun or profound or intense, not really romantic.
Actually, it’s hard to find a romantic scene at all in the first two books. Not that there isn’t romance or romantic feelings going on. Just that the characters don’t usually have a lot of time or inclination to deal with those feelings, so scenes that are truly romantic are rare.
He couldn´t stand it, all of this inside him. In the end, he was nodoby to Adam, he was nodody to Ronan. Adam spit his words back at him and Ronan squandered however many second chances he gave him. Gansey was just a guy with a lot of stuff and a hole inside him that chewed away more of his heart every year. They were always walking away from him. But he never seemed able to walk away from them. ................ Gansey thought of one hundred things that he could say to Adam about how it would be alright, how it was for the best, how Adam Parrish had been his own man before he´d met Gansey and there was no way he´d stop being his own man just by changing the roof over his head, how some days Gansey wished that he could be him, because Adam was so very real and true in a way that Gansey couldn´t ever seem to be. But Gansey´s words had somehow become unwitting weapons, and he didn´t trust himself to not accidentally discharge them again.
