WHAT WAS MEANT

Friday night meant bonfire night, and while Kim loved the time she spent with her friends, these nights were always a bit hard for her. She wondered if any of the others had noticed that she always sat a little bit further away from the flames, though not enough to be outwardly noticeable. It wouldn’t surprise her if Billy had, though he was sweet enough not to say anything. And really, as long as the flames stayed under control, Kim always managed to keep her nervousness under wraps. Besides, they’d all fallen into a pit of flames thinking they were going to die. She wasn’t the only one who had been terrified, but sometimes it felt like she was the only one who could still feel those flames licking at her armor, suffocating her as it burned through all of the oxygen in her cockpit. 

Of course, when the night involved all five of them getting together, it was very rare that things stayed peaceful for long. Either Jason and Zack would start scrapping, or Zack and Trini, or really Zack could find ways to disturb the peace all on his own. It was one of the things she loved about the boy because at the end of the day, his antics generally helped to pull her out of her head when she needed it most. It was just unfortunate that tonight, he decided to do so by tossing something into the flames that made it erupt into a fireball. Her chair skidded back about three feet, teetered on two legs precariously before tipping onto its side, and Kim had four pairs of eyes staring at her, with looks ranging from confusion to concern. “Sorry,” she chirped out, hoping that her voice sounded normal enough to dispel the suddenly heavy air around them. “I wasn’t paying attention and it spooked me.”

She hoped that it was dark enough that none of them saw her hands shaking as she pulled her chair upright, and if she sat an extra eight inches away from the bonfire, then hopefully none of them noticed that either.

THIS IS

The low chimes of the grandfather clock in the living room told Tommy that it was just passing one AM, and yet sleep still eluded them, though that wasn’t anything new. Ever since the power coin showed up, they never seemed to get a good night’s sleep. Maybe it was the way they had power humming through every inch of their body or the tiny whispers at the back of their head, prickling and needling at their weaknesses. Outsider. Traitor. Words that Tommy understood on a cerebral level, but emotionally, it was a little harder.

A loud thump from outside startled them, and they rose from the bed. They lived in an apartment in a rundown part of town, and having tweakers break in was the last thing they needed right now. Fists clenched tightly, Tommy crept to the window. Whoever was trying to break in wasn’t exactly doing a bang up job of being quiet, and they reached down to yank them into the room, fist raised and ready to disarm the intruder. At least until they realized they knew who it was. 

“Zack? What the hell are you doing outside my window at one in the morning?”

I have to admit that I just love seeing every post on my dash. Because they are just SO Zack and it’s so entertaining!! I love all the headcanons you have for him - they are just spot on! And just all the crack and beautiful aesthetics!! Just a really good mix to have on my dash! So we still don’t have a public thread, but what we managed to do in a day - awesome! I just love how you write Evan and how you totally just came up with the watch thing - it was beautiful!! I’m so excited to get to write with you for the rest of the world to see, because it’s such a different kind of relationship and verse and everything!This blog is recommended because Evan is precious and mun knows how to portray that beautifully!!!
