There is absolutely nothing for Leviathan and it hurts. I have found some fanart of her because of the lostlightfest2021 tag but there is so little. I need more of her. It was bad enough I wrote a fic for her yesterday because I have been thinking about her so much.
But oh yes... I would love to hear your headcanons on her? How old is she, maybe more on her bond with Blitzwing in your AU? Just any kind of headcanons you have!
I did a similar "she and Blitz look similar in IDW2019" as you and I find it really fun to explore her seeing Blitzwing as her son, the only one of any protoform she helped develop, because (in my headcanons) he was the first she ever helped forge. I don't usually go with a "parent/child dynamic" but something about Leviathan aching and wanting to know him but seeing what he becomes and that hurting her lures me in bad.
I WOULD LIKE TO READ YOUR FIC IF THATS OKAY. I would like to a lot
Many thoughts about her, very many. Most of my hcs exist within my fan cont universe so a few things may not make sense so feel free to ask me to elaborate on anything i mention! I think Leviathan is a fair bit older than most Cybertronians, but still after the Primes. However, I do think she spent a lot of her early years in stasis as a safety measure because there were still tensions that had to be smoothed over on Cybertron worldwide, which is why shes so comfortable with staying in her alt mode and eve prefers it compared to using both root and alt in even proportions.
Speaking of her alt mode, it’s suuuper cool and unique to me and opens up a lot of ideas on cultural aspects of Cybertronian society alongside function. I specifically take on a religious point of view looking at it because of how prevalent and wholly important that belief and faith seems to be for a lot of Cybertronians. With the nature of (what is to us at least) “unconventional” reproduction with hotspots and sentio metallico and everything that falls into that, it can easily bring up ideas of just. How much of it comes down to divinity or naturally in converse viewpoints. I could yap for a while about how i think Leviathan plays into this, but i wont do that because that would be egregiously long-winded; but what i will say is that i don’t think she would be particularly religious at all. No “loyalty” to even a singular form of belief, just generally doesn’t put her faith into a higher being—or cause. She views her job as something she’s just fit for, fallen into it by coincidence rather than divine intervention. And as the war goes on, even the smallest part of her being was even just curious about Primus or Unicron and their hypothetical existence as so many believe gets crushed under heel.
In general, she’s very self-reliant, both physically and personality-wise. I imagine her years of isolation led her to be content with her own company, but besides that, it was also feasible for her in a way that isn’t to other Cybertronians. I think she would somewhat produce a portion of her own energy naturally alongside the seldom occurrence of consuming energon like usual, probably gleaning some kind of residual geothermal energy from Cybertron itself, processing it for use with her alt mode. She probably comes across raw energon deposits as well on occasion, and with her ability to (in a sense) purify resources, it would decrease the need to outsource energon from third-party distributors like how vehicular Cybertronians would have to in urban scenarios. She’s used to not having or needing company or just other presences is my point, and i think such sentiments would extend into how she views and works around the big civil war.
I don’t think she would take a side for a long time. She takes pride in her work, helping to create new life in such a personal way, and subsequently views the destruction that both sides of the war cause to be equally as off-putting. The war is a big game of push and pull essentially, both sides having moments of inaction and action, whether it be in response, preemptive, preventative, unprompted, whatever it may be. She’s staunchly neutral, sort of stuck in the middle of every major scenario that crosses over the planet; too young to remember the Primes and their role personally, but old enough to see their effects take hold of societal structure. A non-believer and even a skeptic in a world that has a strong religious conviction in the majority of the population. Someone who sees both sides of the war and isn’t swayed by either of their ideals because their actions say more than enough.
As for Blitzwing and Leviathan! I’ve talked about them a couple times on a few different posts which I’ll link here if you (or anyone else) wants to check them out.
Here are the tags i left on this post a while back talking about how the two piece together when separated from one another. As i said above, very estranged from one another. Blitzwing knows that his existence isn’t due to naturally emerging from his hotspot, and needed some help to keep him alive, just not exactly in what manner though (if that makes sense?). His spark spending so much time and feeding off the energy of a spark many times more powerful than the average Cybertronian essentially led him to be a triple-changer as well; his spark was larger than usual after being with Leviathan, so his spark chamber had to be modified to contain it, and the later discovery of his spark having a high energy output led to the modification of his frame to accommodate an additional alt mode. Having a high energy output meant that he suffered a lot of discharges of energy in his early days because what energy wasn’t expended by every-day activity just built up more and more; they were painful. I think that may have been his first exposure to loathing his psuedo-parent because of the pain he endured early on. He even thinks at times that it would have been better to just let his spark naturally die out or even attach to another small, weak spark to try to create one moderate one. But instead he got an experience wholly unique to him in the worst way (at least in his perspective).
My thoughts on Leviathan’s side is pretty well explained in my tags, but what i will say is that she doesn’t really know who Blitzwing is for a long time, but once she does find out that the little flickering spark she so foolishly thought she could help became, well, Blitzwing, there’s an immediate sense of just. Dread she experiences alongside grief. It was her decision that led to Blitzwing even existing in the first place, and to know that he became such a cruel individual feels like a failure on her behalf; she could have done better. Could have chosen a different path.
So you and I agree pretty evenly on how their relationship is lol, i liked the idea of connecting those two in such a strange and convoluted manner and more specifically hiving each if them some deep-seated issues
I’ve also got this post with some more details about Blitzwing and his existence in general if you wanna look at it! I might change some bits here and there but for the most part it’s pretty consistent with what i’ve been saying here
