the  idea  that  elsa  ( @umvetrinn​ )  and  alexi  ( @tornsurvivors​ )  get to  sometimes  cuddle  with  shadow!monster  emily  is  both  absolutely  hilarious  and  terrifying  to  me.   but  in  all  seriousness ,    anyone  else  that  comes  upon  emily  shadow  walking  WILL  be  terrified.   like  this  is  probably  out  of  nowhere ,    just  some  shadow  creature  skirt  skiiirting  along.   most  times  she  either  uses  it  to  a)   be  purposely  terrifying  and  b)   move  from  one  room  to  another  without  being  seen.   but  certain  people  that  know  her  and  have  come  to  understand  that  she  has  developed  this  power   ( @blcckbrd​  too ) ,    can’t  particularly  stay  terrified.    it’s  just  emily  kaldwin  and  emily  will  always  have  this  certain  speck  of  terrifying ,    the  void  about  her ,    but  these  are  people  she  loves  and  the  terrifying  aspect  just  won’t  stick.     i’m  also  very  fond  of  the  idea  that  while  i’m  not  a  high  chaos  fan ,    emily  still  sticks  to  the  idea  that  sometimes  people  have  to  be  terrified.   that  there  are  people  out  there  that  are  corrupt  and  the  only  way  to  keep  her  family  together ,    to  keep  this  throne  IS  to  be  absolutely  terrifying.    so ,    what  exactly  does  that  mean ?     it  means  that  around  corvo ,    elsa ,    and   alexi  in  particular  she  doesn’t  hide  her  powers.    she  may  around  everyone  else ,    but  she  will  not  lose  the  ability  of  the  mark.    but ,    more  importantly  (  and  driven  by  @carvedbones​ )  emily  is  actually  part  void.    her  powers  point  towards  it.   she  isn’t  just  another  Marked ,    she  literally  holds  more  void  power  than  just  Marked  power  has  previously  given.    a  part  of  her  understands  this ,    so  there  are  moments  she’ll  separate  from  society  as  a  whole ,    from  life  even.    enter  the  void.

Closed Starter for @blcckbrd​

It was rare to see such a ship in her waters. A monolith of steel and steam had appeared in the night, she was coloured curious to say the least. Enough to swim all the way out to the beast with a simple dress on and climb aboard through a porthole left slightly ajar. The silent and peaceful night above blessing her journey.

Those dark brown eyes with amber flecks practically glow when the Emperor offers the gift to them. They’ve never been given a gift by royalty before, nevermind an Emperor, but that matters not. To them, Corvo is a friend, and in this case that is what matters. “Oh, sweetling, these are perfect!” 

Dove forsakes all form of pleasantries and formality and wraps their arms around Corvo, pulls him close, and plants a kiss on his cheek. “You’ve made me feel so at home when I’m so very far away from my hometown. I truly, truly appreciate it.” They linger for a moment in the embrace, looking up at Corvo with fondness.

It is the glow of their campfire which steadily draws Samuel forward. As he shifts towards them, colt in his hand, rifle swung around to his back, he makes sure to keep his movements fluid and slow; he can’t risk being spotted, not this late in the game. He’s tracked this gang for over a week now, somehow never able to get ahead of them, always arriving just in time to see the carnage left in their wake; to witness burned buildings, gradually cooling corpses and what seem to be an endless supply of weeping, wailing widows.

It is only when he ventures closer that he spots the young woman tending to the coffee; her tear stained cheeks briefly illuminated by the flickers of firelight. Her clothes, which may be torn and dirty and overtly ostentatious, enough to tell him this girl is not likely a gang member but rather a captured prize. One he will have to be sure to avoid when the shooting starts.

The gang, it seems, are drinking heavily and are distinctly merry, the noise they are making is admittedly a useful distraction – the sound of their jovial singing is easily drowning out any signs of Samuel’s movements. It is however, not enough to distract Samuel from the rustle of bushes somewhere over to his left and so, eager not to make any further noise, he withdraws his bowie knife, crouches and creeps forward until he is able to make-out the outline of a man shrouded by the dark, who, it appears, is also intently watching this particular gang. Immediately Sam begins to worry that should this stranger act rashly, his position will be instantly compromised and so with his knife in one hand, colt in the other, he issues a hushed warning.

          the voice startled him.  he’d spent so long trying to fight his way out that he hadn’t noticed all the damage done along the way.  his sword drops as if the danger had passed.  in reality, it had gotten heavy.  so, so heavy.  fighting as long as he had meant his muscles were exhausted.  now that he’d stopped moving everything was catching up to him.
