Finished watching @Netflix's season 2 of Lost In Space and had to follow it up with the 1998 movie. And so looked up the old Trendmaster figures on eBay. I think I may have only gotten the Don West figure. That helmet was cool. That helmet design got reused by an Alien in Ben 10. #lostinspacenetflix #lostinspace #lostinspace1998 #dangerwillrobinson #robot #lostinspacerodmastersbot #spacefamilyrobinson #robinsons #donwest #judyrobinson #blawp #johnrobinson #drsmith #doctorsmith #dicktufeld #trendmasters #lostinspacetrendmasters #trendmasterslostinspace #lostinspacetoys #toysofinstagram #actionfigures (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6p4K5khfq5/?igshid=hwyg8uk8h8v6
I have no proof, and I may be wrong, but I've always gotten the impression that most, if not all, the Blawp scenes in the LiS movie were supposed to be done with the animatronic puppet I've seen in behind the scenes photos like the one above.
I think that the reason the cgi on him looks so ify in the final film is because they chose too late in the game to animate all his scenes.
It is said on the commentary that the production team asked for more time to finish the cg effects in general, but the studio wouldn't budge on the release date.
Again, this is merely a theory, but if anyone can confirm or deny any of this, I'd be interested to hear from you.
You tell 'em.
