When you literally have nada, you should definitely spend most of your time working on yourself.
No husband/wife
No children
No house ownership
No vehicle
No educational certificates higher than grade school
No family around you
No set reassurance
No business ownership
Just put everything you got into your personal goals. Relationships slow you down unless they are marrying you by which you’d be starting a new path. But if you are missing at least 4-5 out of those 8 you should reevaluate your next moves strategically. Set goals and stick to them!
After months of trying to teach myself how to code after long 10 hour shifts...
I finally decided to take a more formal course that would create some structure and discipline in my learning.
I signed up for the month long Remote Bootcamp Prep course at Fullstack Academy.
Today was day 1 of 14 and probably one of lightest days of this 14 day journey.
I am excited and terrified all at the same time.
JavaScript is intense and learning code is so different from anything that I’ve ever had to learn before. It is very challenging, but I am looking forward to the reward.
The goal is to do so well in this prep course that I can apply and get accepted in Grace Hopper Academy’s immersive this summer. Working full time and taking night classes is going to be rough, but I am being patient with myself and I’ll try to blog my progress throughout this journey.

I enjoy public speaking because it gives me the opportunity to reflect on my life, rediscover what I've learned and encourage others to live their best lives, fearlessly. #publicspeaking #blackgirlcode #liveandlearn (at Galvanize)
