America sucks and we need to ban guns so bad
It’s just... weird. One wouldn’t even need to downright ban them - they are not banned in my country, my father has two guns he uses at the range since middle age crisis struck and he had to feel manly or something - but yeah, background checks and assessment go a long way. That, and reasonable laws on what can be sold to the public, even to those with no criminal record. There’s no way in hell Mr. John Doe is ever gonna need weapons capable of shooting 700 rounds a minute for self-defense.The guy should have never have been allowed to buy that shit, even if he never got a parking ticket in his life.
(I also am confused by the people who say they keep them for self-defense in case of break-ins, but then say they’re responsible gun owners who “keep their gun unloaded and locked away”. I just... how does it work? You politely ask the guy who broke in to wait there a minute while you open the safe, load your gun and then turn them into Swiss cheese, feel free to have a drink while you wait?)
