Our art was censored. A simple #blm was “too controversial “ the man who had originally given us permission told us that “it invites vandalism and violence “ . We accepted the offer to paint a mural under the assumption that he supports this movement too , But it became apparent to us that our art was being use to push his agenda . He said “Im okay if you put all lives matter” our group shut down that comment as soon as he spoke it. Another woman who WORKS for the city told us “black lives matter is a terrorist group “ baffling how someone that ignorant can work for our city, you should not represent us.

instead of painting over it we taped a poster board with “[REDACTED]” written on it. We wanted people to know that it was not us, and that the message is still beneath it . Every person who walked by and interacted with us was made aware of the situation, the entire community was upset by this . We NEVER wanted to censor this, it’s not something that NEEDS to be censored.

I cried when I realized my art was on the business of a person who does not support black lives. It is disgusting. If you are able please share this story like wild fire. It breaks my heart that we had to do this.BLM is not violent it is not controversial, no lives are controversial . BLM means you care about black peoples right to live as peacefully and fear free as everyone else. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 •

"All White People Get Out or We Will Kill You"- Protests in South Africa (Video)

A white South African university student was video taping as her fellow students had to barricade themselves in their classroom against a crowd of several hundred black activist students in Cape Town. It was the result of protests by mostly black students over a proposed tuition rate hike at all Universities in the country. Or was it just an excuse?

“All white people get out or we will kill you”

Student Anne Landman wrote,

So this happened. I stopped filming before things got out of hand as we were scared they would damage property, which they did. Hundreds of rioters outside those doors. People were cornered and taunted. Some of our students were beaten up for trying to keep the doors closed. The doors are now broken. They stormed in with balaclavas on, shouting horrible things in our direction. Quote of the day “All white people get out or else we will kill you”. Sorry for the language in the video but we were all panicking a bit in there. What has this country come to?

*After having this video up for the last few days I have seen it become a massive argument of race on social media. Yes the majority of us in this class are white (but not all of us) and yes horrible racist remarks were thrown our way. That does not mean we don’t believe in the reason for the protests. And yes some of us would have joined in on the protests that day if we had been treated as equals and not threatened by those on the other side of the doors. We are fighting for the same goal, let’s not turn on each other.

  Protesting

The “protests” to which she is referring are protests over the raising of tuition fees for South African Universities. But was the tuition issue just an excuse to promote hate? The black students reportedly felt that they could not afford ANY raise in fees whatsoever and spent days protesting. Some students, as noted in the above Tweet, blocked the buses and dragged other students out. In one school, protesters chased students out of the library while they were preparing for exams. Some burned portable toilets, and threw bottles.

“I just don’t understand why they are taking us out of the library. I feel so scared. If this crowd gets out of control and a stampede breaks out I might get hurt.” Anonymous student

On Friday, President Jacob Zuma announced there would be no fee increase. At that point, police moved in to break up the protesters and violence erupted. Some of the students were not aware of President Zuma’s announcement until the media advised them. In most riots, only about half the people really know what’s going on – the others follow blindly.

It appears that anytime something happens that people don’t like, it’s okay to throw a massive temper tantrum over it.  It doesn’t just happen in Missouri, it’s happening everywhere.  The black students got their way, but at a high price. The student bodies of all the South African universities are now extremely divided along racial lines. But perhaps that’s what someone wanted all along.

VIOLENCE breaks out between Confederate flag demonstrators and BLACK protesters at SC Capitol

Pro-Confederate flag protesters were met with resistance when they tried to rally around the South Carolina Capitol.
