REVIEW | "My Hero Academia: Vigilantes" - Vol. 11 | B3 - Boston Bastard Brigade
When a hero fails to be what he claims to be, it’s only going to lead them towards a path of villainy. My Hero Academia did this awhile back with Gentle Criminal, a wannabe hero whose problematic powers had him go towards the dark side. But for the most part, Gentle Criminal was a humorous look at such a situation. Vigilantes’s O’Clock II, on the other hand, is a terrifying look at what happens when heroes turn into villains!
Volume Eleven of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes starts where the last volume ended, as Pop Step (in Bee Pop mode) has been shot while The Crawler has her in his arms. It leads to a battle between the egotistical O’Clock II, who aims to take down Bee Pop in order to make his image look good. But when Endeavor shows up — along with another adult hero — O’Clock II’s plans literally go up in flames! And in the aftermath, O’Clock II becomes something else entirely.
After Pop Step is placed in custody, The Crawler has a one-to-one with the now-deformed O’Clock II. In this moment, it’s very easy to see the parallels between O’Clock II and Harvey Dent. A sense of justice transforms into a taste for vengeance, as O’Clock II aims to kill both Pop Step and The Crawler in a speech that will give any reader the chills. This is a moment where a great supervillain can emerge, and writer Hideyuki Furuhashi hits the nail on the head with its delivery!
The second half of this volume of Vigilantes goes into a flashback involving Knuckleduster’s original persona! An underground ring of illegal fighting against Quirk users leads him to fight one-on-one with The Rapper. But when a certain rabbit-eared hero-in-the-making comes to put up her dukes, chaos arrives in the form of a mysterious gas. Some people lose their Quirks, while others transform into something monstrous.

Daniiar Toichubek uulu MMA Highlights - Undefeated Kyrgyzstan Prospect
We talked about Kyrgyzstan as a new hotbed for MMA talent. Daniiar Toichubek (11-0) is part of that. Toichubek, aka Fenrir, is a bantamweight that has been competing in promotions like ACA. He's a teammate to ONE fighter Akbar Abdullaev. The 23 year old bantamweight will face off with Jin Se Lee (7-5) at Black Combat 16: Exodus this Saturday (Jan. 31).
Adilet Nurmatov vs. Jae Woong Kim | BLACK COMBAT 15
Kyrgyzstan is the new hotbed for MMA talent. There's a whole bunch of fighters that are crawling their way up the rankings and grabbing world titles in different promotions around the world. Had it not been for missing weight, Akbar Abdullaev would be the ONE Featherweight champion right now. The current RIZIN featheweight champion Razhabali Shaydullaev looks like a certified future top level fighter. Myktybek Orolbai is tearing it up in the UFC at 4-1. Uran Satybaldiev just won his UFC LHW debut. And of course, Valentina Shevchenko is arguably the greatest female fighter ever.
Adilet Nurmatov (14-2) is actually teammates with Shaydullaev, and was supposed to be featured on a Road to UFC card but was forced off due to VISA issues. So he is on the radar of big promotions. Apparently, Nurmatov blew weight for this fight with Kim and is now the villain of South Korean MMA if the comment section on some of the promotional videos are anything to go by.
Nurmatov will fight in the main event of Black Combat 16: Exodus this Saturday (Jan. 31) when he faces off with PFL veteran Tae Kyun Kim (11-2).

Tae Kyun Kim vs Nathan Kelly | PFL WT 1 2025
Tae Kyun Kim (11-2) is one of the rare Korean fighters to make it out of Korea and find some tangible success. He competed in BRAVE CF and posted a 4-1 record. He competed in the PFL featherweight world tournament and went 2-1, making it to the semifinal before losing to eventual champion Movlid Khaybulaev.
But now he's heading back to Korea to fight in front of one of the largest domestic audiences for MMA (10K+ fans) in the main event of Black Combat 16: Exodus. He's set to take on rising prospect out of Kyrgyzstan, Adilet Nurmatov (14-2). The two will headline this Saturday (Jan. 31).
