Today's drawing practice was @abalonetea 's character BJ from her WIP Wings of War! He's a really fun character and it's a fantastic story and I highly recommend checking it out!!
BJ squirrels up tighter against Elias’ chest, a mockery of a hundred times before. a big, heavy wing wraps around him.
“that was a fine match,” says Jamie, voice already sleep rough.
BJ chuckles, tilting his head so Elias can tuck up under his chin. “yeah, we were fuckin’ awesome.”

“ - and I was like, I dunno, foooourteen? maybe, whatever, that don’e matter. the point is, i’m like, yeah, this is enough, i’m done dealing with all of that shit. and that was it. i took off. ain’t been back yet.”

his leg is all numb the way it gets sometimes, which makes scrambling up the ladder kind of difficult, but also this is the best place in Twin Trees to get a view of the field, so.
BJ goes up, and he hangs off one of the upper rungs with a looped arm. presses the other hand to the receiver of his comm, spitting out, “we’ve got an empty field out by the east tree, Ellie. guess everyone’s taken the fight under ground.”

Jules is talking in French and BJ can’t understand it but he kind of likes listening to the guy. kind of likes watching the guy, too, sitting at the table in the little shabby kitchen of the shack they’re stuck in, cleaning his knives and muttering to himself.
or not muttering, and not really to himself.
someone’s got a record playing in the next room over and BJ’s pretty sure that’s what Jules is doing, singing along with it, but still.
he kind of likes just sort of mucking around in the kitchen and listening.

BJ stands for Benjamin Junior, but he hates his dad with a burning passion, and doesn’t go by that. instead, if you ask what it stands for, he’ll give you increasingly bizarre and nonsensical answers. Banana Jam, Bike Jump, Bamma Jamma. he thinks it’s really funny.
BJ: I'm gonna mix a can of Red Bull with seventeen shots of espresso in a fishbowl and then chug it while Kids by MGMT plays in the background so I can perceive twenty-three spatial dimensions and fight my own soul.
