To be clear for those who don't know or who benefit from being reminded: Goncharov is not a real movie. It's an imaginary movie created by tumblr users' collaborative effort (primarily in November 2022).

The original "bit" was to pretend that there was this classic film that was both a deep cut and iconic enough that film buffs should have seen it. Which was alluding to the haughty attitude of some cinephiles who are so intent on knowing everything that they would insist that they, too, had seen a movie that doesn't exist. From there, the idea was to talk about the movie as though it were real, and to create fandom discourse and media analysis that was identical to the kind of thing you see on your dash when someone you follow is into a piece of media you're not familiar with. And some people commit to the bit harder than others.

And for those who need THIS reminder: don't be an asshole. Don't insist that Goncharov is real if someone asks. Literally gaslighting people (i.e.: attempting to convince them that their perception of reality is the problem when it comes to the existence of a made-up movie) is not the bit! The bit is the collaboration, and a moment's explanation/confirmation outside the bit is integral to allowing people to decide if they want to ignore it or play along.
